We go spend time here at least once a year & our other family members go 2-3 times a year . Everyone treats us so well , we kinda are like family when we are there . A lot of locals come to stay here as well bc not only is it the best beach spot for relaxing & floating the day away the food is awesome . It’s not a 5 star looking hotel but it’s 5 star to us bc of the staff . From front desk to house keeping to ground keepers to kitchen . We love Charela .

Beautiful hotel charming but need to have more customer friendly staff and amenities such as late night snacks or food if you just want to hang drink or eat with friends or family while looking out at the water . No gift shop rooms takes forever . Not much of a menu and breakfast limited

Whenever my husband and I are in Negril the only place we'll stay is Charela Inn. The staff treats us like family. We've been coming to Charela Inn for years and will continue to come for years to come.

This was our 6th visit to Charela and each time has been great. Besides the perfect beach and being centrally located, the staff really make you feel at home and as family. Everyone from the owner on down always greets you with a hello and is there anything you need. Also, Charela must be doing something right because several of the staff have been there over 20 years.

Our third-floor ocean view room in the new wing was nice though narrow. The bathroom was large and nicely appointed. The hotel is well-located in the heart of the best and safest part of Seven Mile Beach. The on-site restaurant was lovely and the food was good. The clientele was primarily 50-plus with some families sprinkled in. We liked that they were evenly distributed between Germans, French, Canadians and Americans. The whole place, especially the beach with its lush trees that provide necessary shade, had a comfortable, moderately upscale vibe that, fortunately in our view, also wasn't ostentatious.
BUT. It turns out that there is fierce competition for the shade, such that, at least in high season, one of your party will have to arise at 6:30 and go down to the beach and lay claim to some chaises, which also might involve negotiating (as it were) that process with one of the workers who supervises the beach. It also might involve, as it did our case, being told by another guest oozing arrogance that you had no right to put your stuff in an area that was, he maintained, reserved for his group by arrangement with one of those staff. And mind you, you're given no forewarning about this process when you check in or when you first hit the beach. Bummer! We figured it out, but it left a bad feeling.
Lastly, twice in the late afternoon when we needed to shower, there was no water whatsoever, a problem that was fixed as quickly and mysteriously as it appeared.

I cannot think of enough nice things to say about this resort. This was our first time to Negril & Jamaica in general and I had done an obscene amount of research for this trip. We switched hotels twice (Couples Swept away > Skylark> Charela) due to budgeting and to be honest I was nervous we were not going to be happy with Charela and it wasn't going to be nice or luxurious enough. I was humbled to say the least. While not the most luxurious or expensive hotel Ive ever stayed in there is something about its romantic, rustic vibe and charm that has made it one of my top favorites. The property is unbelievable- this stretch of beach is absolutely gorgeous, I'd wager that it is the prettiest stretch of beach in Negril. This place is so romantic. The staff was polite and efficient. There is the sweetest "family dog" named "Kush" that roams the property and beach and we were sad to leave. Our room was immaculately clean. We paid about $700 less per night than friends staying at CSA and our room was twice as large with a HUGE two person tub, a balcony overlooking the live music stage, and beach. The restaurant? 10 out of 10. The absolute BEST Fresh flaky croissants and ham and cheese omelets served to us each morning on the beach or brought to our room. Eating the most decadent Chicken Alfredo pasta while listening to the band and the waves crash just steps away is a core memory. I never thought I would MISS a hotel as much as I do right now.

Charela Inn was paradise for us. Mr. Daniel—a kind and warm proprietor that makes everyone feel welcome and at home, the quaint family feel of the property, and all the sweet staff members...were all a joy to be around. This wasn’t my first trip to Negril, but certainly my first stay at Charela Inn...and it was a blessing! Spent hours upon hours at the perfectly pristine beach that was just a few steps away from the room, had excellent fresh-made food everyday, and felt like I could stay there forever. We’ll soon be returning. It’s an absolute must!
