Upgraded our room to loft apartment as standard deluxe was not big enough for 2 adults 110 yr old child as per hotel.com website. That said the upgraded room was lovely.
Biggest gripe though was that we wasn’t informed the pool was closed for refurbishment until after we had booked & paid.

Due to hurricane Beryl we had to relocate to Kingston. We chose the "R" based on prices & facilities. Upon arrival we were greated by hospitiable staff & beautiful rooms; Security on the gate was warm and inviting, our luggage was taken to our room.
We booked a double queen bed room with kitcheniate - it came with a washing machine & dryer (washing detergent upon request), daily housekeeping if required, WiFi, TV, interconnecting rooms, room service, complementary water & splendid views of Kingston.
The R Hotel during hurricane Beryl was phenomenal: all the staff from maintenance, housekeeping, reception, restaurant staff & management exceeded our expectations. They provided us with safety & continued to provide services during the worst hours of the storm. They still provided breakfast and optional lunch & dinner was supplied at a small charge. We came for safety to shelter away from hurricane Beryl but we got so much more from the "R" Hotel team.
They were superstars to my family and their guest and most importantly they have continued to provide the same standard of service throughout our stay.
Additionally, its in a good location; 3 minutes walk to Peter Tosh museum, 8 minutes to Devon House, 15 mins to Bob Marley museum.

I was in the R Hotel when Hurricane Beryl hit!! I felt very safe and well cared for. Nicolene seemed to be on duty throughout and she exceptionally helpful!
The only small negative was the carpeted in the corridor that are well past their best!
I have already recommended this hotel to family! I would not hesitate to stay there again.

I like that it was safe by using my key card even on the elevator very quiet .what i did not like there was no pool or lunch or dinner due to renovation but the wifi sucks i could not communicate with my family or love ones in a phone conversation i have to text or voice note and wait for response othe than the it was good the servers for breakfast was excellent the attendants at the gate was great

The staff are curtious and polite, The food and general ambience of the roof top restaurant space is very special, breakfast was very nice, although, their could have been a wider variety of food for customers who would prefer not to have a cooked breakfast and remembering to keep the food topped up. I asked to take a look in one of your Penthouse suits for a possiible future booking for my family. You guys need to know when its time to let furniture go, those damaged chairs, "Really". Your charging big money for those rooms, give your customers what the deserve, the minimum, quality chairs. Overall I would Strongly reccommend this hotel.

I would give them a solid 4/5 rating but in terms of star. I feel like the property is now a nicer 3 star in terms of cleanliness and newness, they fell off a tad I think they got comfortable with their 4 star rating. We’ve stayed here before and truly felt like a year or two ago it was a four star now it’s a three. The pool isn’t functional the room has limited towels the bath leaks and the drains aren’t secure, the drapes were falling off. The food is the location it’s the best in the city if you’re there to visit family or go to an event they have ample parking for their guests the security and staff are great the staff in my opinion is what is keeping this place great. The owners need to step it up a notch with the upkeep start by fixing the pool.

The check-in process was smooth.My front desk host Shawnette was professional,friendly and kind. All staff members were hospitable and patient. Excellent customer service. I shall return and will refer friends and family.

I loved the home away from home feeling. The kitchenette was awesome for my family needs. The hotel staff from front desk to room service was awesome. The breakfast was awesome. Staff always polite and smiling. There were a few hiccups like plumbing, no gym open and the pool is not family friendly. More like a sauna next to a bar. No one wants to go in water near a bar. Reminds me of Spa Castle. In Queens, New York. Not a swimming pool for children. Overall, I felt safe to go to the areas that I planned to go too. My husband and the rest of the family definitely would stay at the hotel again.

It was nice the only issue was the loud music they would play at the District 5 Sky Lounge on the 5th floor everyday until late in the night and some mornings at 7. I was on the 3rd floor and I could hear the loud music. It was such a disturbance to me and family.
