We have been looking forward for an opportunity to go to the Orient for a while now, and we were excited to finally make it to the hotel. However, as much as we tried to enjoy ourselves, we had a never-ending string of issues that made it one of the least relaxing hotel stays we have ever experienced. First we checked into a room that was filthy. Food leftovers on the chair, piles of hair on the sofa, and stains of some chunky red material all over the bed-head. We complained and were moved rooms, but for some reason that process took well over an hour and included numerous calls to reception and several housekeeping visits to inspect. We then got another room (absolutely identical, despite being promised an upgrade), which was superficially clean, however later in the day we opened a drawer to find a bunch of used face masks from the previous guests. Another issue we had in that room was that the A/C would not turn off. A massive problem when you have a baby with you. We complained about it 4(!) times, and had 4 maintenance people coming to fix it, however it took 3 days for it to be sorted, during which we had A/C blowing in our room 24/7. Our baby NEVER slept worse than he did at the Orient. After 3 nights we left the hotel exhausted and bruised, and went back home to get a proper night's sleep. On the plus side, this is a nice property and is very well-located.
