Lough Rea Hotel & Spa

Overall experience was mediocre - after booking the hotel we got an automated welcome email from the hotel asking if we want to book the table for the dinner and other special requests; we emailed back the preferred time for the dinner also requested if we can use the swimming pool after arrival. We didn't get any response, but we were pretty sure that they received it and have us in mind. After arrival and checking in we were told that there is no swimming pool in the hotel (they have it only in Cork hotel), also the table wasn't reserved for us. Kids were extremely disappointed regarding the swimming pool and if we would have received the email from them on time advising us that the swimming pool is in the different hotel we would definitely not be choosing Loughrea Hotel and Spa and choosing the one more suitable for the children. The room was damp and the window was not opening, no balcony, no terrace, no window. All night we had an air conditioner on the lowest temperature and at the highest speed but it didn't make much of a difference, it was still very damp and no fresh air (we love sleeping with a bit of window open for the fresh air, but as the window was not opening we couldn't have that option). Breakfast was very poor, dried eggs, extremely dry black and white pudding, not a good quality sausages and bacon. Would we come back? No, thank you. For the price we've paid there are more luxury and comfortable hotels with tons of activities for the kids.

Four individual beds for the family of four

Clean and roomy. Great set up for our family of 4 with room to move around. Balcony would have been even better with some chairs to utilize it.

Convenient location for family cisists

5 minutes from the motorway. Plenty of parking. Bar was nice. Breakfast was good. Countryside setting. Local service station next door. Lake nearby nice for walks. View was nice. We had a family room and the room was very large.

Great staffbar reception and restaurant. The family bedroom is spacious. The balcony with view on the lake is amazing. We can regulate the room heat easily which makes me feel at home. I definitely recommend it and I wish to come back to try the spa

1st time at this hotel and it was well worth it. Booked a family room for 1 night and had a great night's sleep even though it was busy. Only 1 draw back was the corridors and bar area were hot but there was a thunderstorm the same night so this may have added to the rise in temperature. Breakfast was beautiful and lovely products Planning on a girls break and looking forward to using the spa facilities

Upon checking in I paid in full for my stay. Later on i noticed they over charged me €10 so i returned to reception. The receptionist left me standing there for ten minutes whilst she went to enquire with mamager re same. Whem she returned she said it was for an upgrade to our room - which I hadnt requested! Hotel is very modern and clean- staff are nice but not overly friendly or welcoming. NO Pool in the hotel. Not a family friendly hotel as nothing for kids to do there. We ate in the bar - ordered two starters. Wings came out first with no accompaniments - had to ask for these and waited five minutes for same. Ten minutes later the second starter came out. Very poor service. Overall nice hotel but i wouldn't return there
