The Stanley offers families a fantastic stay in Athens with its stunning rooftop pool and restaurant boasting incredible views. While some find the neighbourhood less appealing, the hotel itself is well-maintained and spacious, offering great views and amenities. Families will appreciate the large rooms, and the extensive breakfast buffet. The rooftop pool, while popular and potentially crowded, is a highlight for many. However, note that some guests have mentioned noise levels and the need for taxis at night.

The pros: the rooftop pool - modern and luxurious, a great place to escape the heat. The staff were very helpful and organised a cake for my husbands birthday. The breakfast buffet is open 5.30am until 11am which is great whether you have an early ferry or need a lie in. Rooms are very clean. location was good about 20 mins walk to Plaka. The cons: the biggest one was the noise - the doors all slam and the corridor is loud, you can hear your neighbours and the rooms above, chairs scraping etc. The rooms aren’t ‘pretty’ and a bit on the small side especially the bathrooms. The pool gets super busy and people reserve seats with their towels from early morning and disappear, they could do with a staff member monitoring this and removing towels and stopping kids from playing games in the pool (it’s a small pool just for cooling off, not swimming especially when it’s busy). The cocktails were bad. (we tried espresso martinis on day 1, and margaritas and negroni on day 2) none were good so we switched to Prosecco. Staff did their best best but service was slow. Location - wouldn’t advise walking back alone at night get a taxi. Overall: Not a ‘destinstion’ hotel but for the price, worth it if you’re spending a night in Athens and need somewhere functional.

The staff was attentive and accommodating. They were friendly and made sure we were enjoying our stay. On our last night, our dinner selection was not to our liking (nothing wrong with the preparation or presentation) just didn't fit our taste buds. They took it off our bill and offered an alternative. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely tell our family and friends. Thank you Stanley!

Just arrived home from a 5 night stay in the Stanley as a family of 4 (18 and 16 year old) with the mixed reviews about the area I was slightly apprehensive, the taxi driver that collected us from airport also said it was not a nice area and to avoid using public transport! I now know he was just trying to get us to use his tour guide service. The are itself isn’t that nice to be honest, but the hotel more than makes up for it, the roof top bar and pool (a bit cold in October) is stunning, there were always loungers available and you get given pool towels every day. The bar and restaurant are amazing. Rooms are lovely and clean and spacious, the balcony isn’t worth sitting on with the roof terrace. It is quite loud during the night due to a busy road. Breakfast was ok, plenty of choice just a bit cold, but if you stick to cold then it’s lovely. There’s a metro station about 50 meters outside the hotel and a 5 day pass costa €8 a great way to see the city. This hotel is ideal for couples and family’s with older children, we will definitely be visiting again.

The rooftop restaurant was amazing but the pool is very crowded with kids running around everywhere with no regards to adults and splashing. The executive suite was spacious and very nice but the normal rooms are very small.

This was a great night in Athens. We were welcomed to the hotel, bags were quickly brought to our room and inside we found a cheese/wine/cracker spread that was perfect. The room was a suite and had plenty of room for our family. A very large wrap around balcony was also attached. The keystone of this property is their rooftop restaurant, pool and view. Service throughout the hotel was friendly and plentiful. The morning breakfast buffet is included and also on the rooftop restaurant. We enjoyed our one night. Also, the property is within walking distance of Agora and the Acropolis.

Beautiful hotel. Great location. The restaurant and rooftop pool have great views of the Parthenon. Hotel was very westernized. Our room had plenty of space for the 2 of us but could easily fit a family of 5! Even the elevators were good. They provided welcome drinks free of charge. The only issue was the room had no hot water in the morning right before our flights back to the states so we both took took frigid showers- seems like the hot water shuts off from 10pm - 6 am

I would have given The Stanley 4 stars had it not been for a number of small issues. The "Acropolis View" will certainly disappoint and the location is far from Monastiraki or other popular dining/night areas. The rooms are clean and the staff is excellent - however the area is dicey with some homeless. Excellent breakfast buffet and rooftop pool - but was totally GROSSED out to see babies in diapers in the pool on our final day.

Disappointed with the hotel for price paid. Room was basic and smelt odd. room was dated and needed an update. Bathroom was poor. Breakfast was chaotic as no service but there was choice. Pool was full of children so not quite the relaxing roof top terrace as pictured and closed at 7pm for swimming. Location was fine as next to the metro.

My family of 8 stayed here. It was lovely. The breakfast buffet was incredible as were the views, the pool, and the rooms. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly.

Pictures of the rooms, particularly regarding the size of the bathrooms, are rather misleading. Our bathroom was significantly smaller than the one pictured on the website. Bed sheets were not changed after the third evening/day, as per the hotel information. Service in the hotel’s restaurant is rather slow, we had to wait a while after receiving food before the drinks arrived. The same goes for the time between asking for the bill before we were able to pay, on occasion we had to walk to the cashier desk to pay there as no one came back to the table to take payment. The streets surrounding the hotel have a significant problem with drug addicts and homelessness. Although this is not the hotel’s fault, it may feel unsafe for those traveling alone or as a young family. The hotel looks well looked after and is very clean. Breakfast has a good variety of food, but could have more fresh fruits. The pool area is good.
