Hotel Amélie

I’ve always felt like getting a decent hotel room in Paris for under 200€ is a hit or miss proposition and this one was certainly a miss. I believe his hotel may be family-owned, and I feel like, even though its members are trying, they’re not yet hitting the mark. So instead of giving it a thumbs down, which I would’ve done otherwise, I would give them some constructive criticism. First of all, be friendly. The family patriarch went out of his way to help us when we made a request, but everybody else did the bare minimum. A “bonjour” and a smile would’ve been a good start. Second, make sure things work. The internet service was spotty. The shower water was either too hot or too cold and we struggled with the faucet to make it work properly. The shower drain was a little slow. There was no signal for half the TV channels on the lineup. On the plus side, the location is excellent. This Left Bank hotel is in the 7eme arrondissement with landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Hôtel des Invalides close by. The Seine River is only a few blocks away. It’s surrounded by excellent dining and shopping options. The American Church in Paris is a five-minute walk away.
