Shana by the Beach Manuel Antonio

The hotel is beautiful and the room was amazing. We had a room with a private pool that our kids absolutely loved. The staff was unbelievably kind and helpful. The only "complaint" we can think of is that the beds were hard.

While not easy to access (car recommend) the unique location of the property allows you to see a lot of animals - we had monkeys in our balcony, saw toucan , parrots , hummingbirds and sloths within the property - this was a plus in our trip and the kids loved it. There is a family pool with a side bar and one adult pool. Is 15 min away from Manuel Antonio National Park and has a private path to Biesanz Beach. The staff is very friendly. Stayed in a double king with balcony -Room was spacious with full kitchen and big balcony while bathrooms could use some improvement. Breakfast was good and fresh. I will stay again with no doubt.

The property was nice and clean. The rooms were well accommodating. With clean fresh smell. We did have a teeny problem with some tiny ants. But they weren’t too much of an annoyance. Couldn’t figure out where they were coming from but would only go into the clothing area as opposed to going into the kitchen. Hike to beach was fun for the kids. Lots of wildlife visible.

Shana by the beach is an amazing boutique resort. Immersed in the rain forest with amazing views including the ocean. We were on a ladies trip and it was perfect. The staff are so welcoming and they love their job, literally as their shirts say it too. Ironically I didn't notice until my girlfriend called it out but genuinely they are so nice. We had the most amazing fried snapper and were so relaxed after hanging poolside, we ordered in one night in the evening. We also did the Cataraman sunset tour which I highly recommend. The drive to get to Shana is worth it but be prepared as it is a hike and once you are there, you have trails to the beach which is part of the rain forest and be on guard as the white belly monkeys will visit. I plan to go back with my family.

I always love staying at Shana by the Beach. This is my third time in Costa Rica and my third time staying at this property. Everything is clean and nice and the staff are friendly and professional. I particularly adore Javier, a server in the restaurant. He always treats my family and I so pleasantly. Beautiful property with an amazing view of the ocean!

I would give this resort much better reviews, however, there is a horrible sewer smell present the majority of the time in the adult pool/family pool area, that occasionally blows into the restaurant /bar area.. it gets worse depending on the direction of the wind. It’s very unfortunate because the views, cleanliness, and service at Shana is fantastic! They also have a private beach with great families that provide services such as stand up paddle boarding, beach chairs, and umbrellas for reasonable prices.

Amazing property! Just magical! Fantastic staff — especially Nidia the concierge who took extra care of my kids and made extra effort to ensure every activity we chose was perfect for us!!! We all loved the property and staff! We had monkeys on our balcony and a huge gorgoues room. Love the pools and beach!! Can’t wait to go back again! An unforgettable experience!!

Shana Hotel has the best location. We get both the jungle and the beach. We could see monkeys, sloth, iguanas, birds from our balcony which was the best thing of all. Our junior suite was very spacious and had plenty of space for 4 people. Huge bathroom. The private path through the jungle down to the secluded beach was like a dream. The staff were very nice and always smiling. Nidia at the guest service office was so nice and fun to talk to. She helped us book activities. The restaurant staff were the best. They remembered we wanted a whole pot of coffee for the table and every breakfast they brought the pot, we didn't have to ask. This hotel is just so beautiful. We absolutely love it.

This was a great property to stay at. The family suite was very large, with an exceptionally large bathroom. Suite was very clean. The balcony had seating for 2 and was comfortable and intimate. The pools were very nice, water was warm and there was plenty of seating. The beach you can walk to from the property is amazing. Overall, I can't say enough good things about Shana!

The views, pool, staff and food were excellent! The staff was attentive and kind with quick answers and help when needed. The food was great...was a treat to be able to get a good meal quickly anywhere (room, pool, restaurant). The views and location were ideal for our needs...close enough to everything (city, park, beach) but not in the center of town (we traveled with younger kids). The only con we really had was the thinness of the room walls...we heard everything going on outside our rooms. While the howler monkeys and birds were fun, the people walking in the halls and talking in the rooms next to us not so much. This didn't deter us from having a great stay but be aware!
