Wonderful hotel on the beach with sprawling pools (swim up bar included, could benefit from a slide or two- then would be perfect for families) and multiple dining options. The hotel and rooms are immaculate and the staff is super friendly. The beach is safe for swimming and has shade options but isn't the most beautiful- sand is fine but rocky in places and could benefit from lounges and umbrellas. The view, however, is incredible, with the offshore island keeping the bay safe and calm. Also a huge benefit that you can walk to the nearby marina shopping area with restaurants and stores and a wonderful cafe/dessert place. Overall a wonderful stay.

Check-in was too quick, the front desk's reliance on a QR code linking to multiple, confusing PDFs for details was inconvenient. Valet parking was unresponsive, requiring me to actively seek assistance. Information about the children's passport program, which offers activities and prizes, was only obtained after repeated inquiries. At checkout, I was surprised by a mandatory $30/day amenity fee for services like digital photos and kayaking, which were not clearly communicated upfront.

The Los Sueños Marriott was the perfect location for my wife and I. The staff treated us like family, the rooms were comfortable and conveniently located. Several restaurant options gave us a variety of meals in addition to restaurants at the marina and on the beach. The swimming pool is huge with channels to explore; the beach is steps away with warm Costa Rican Pacific Ocean great for swimming. Los Sueños/Playa Herradura is a great home base for exploring Carara National Park, Manuel Antonio National Park, Marino Balleno National Park and Rainmaker platforms, waterfalls and pools. One additional note - no need to travel in search of scarlet Macaws, they are on the Marriott grounds! Los Sueños Marriott is now our go to resort when staying in Costa Rica.

The resort is not bad overall but very outdated. The pool closes early, and staff stop serving poolside at 5pm! Poolside staff was friendly. But had a bad experience with pool house staff. I requested 5 towels for myself, husband and three kids. But I was then questioned by pool staff why I had 5 people in one room. Keep in mind I did book two rooms. However, I have never had pool staff question me about my reservations.
Although the resort list various restaurants available, only 2 of them were open (Hacienda Kitchen and Bar Ocho). We decided to go eat at Bar Ocho our first night. The food was not bad. However, we waited an hour for our drinks! NOT food, but drinks! We then got the wrong appetizer and waited another 45 minutes for our dinner. At the end, our server was not found, and my husband had to get up from our table to find a server.
At check out, I was told "your bill will be sent you electronically." lol front desk was literally not planning to review my bill with me, which I thought was weird. I requested my bill be printed out for me to review. Staff at check-out did print it. When I asked about explanation for charges, he said, "that's the bill. Those are all charges." I literally had to say, "yes I know but what is it for? the room? food? spa? can you please explain the fees?" Please be aware staff did NOT provide an explanation of fee's, which was disappointing.
I do not plan to return, and I definitely do not recommend.

We enjoyed our time there but had some trouble with two things. The internet was unreliable in our room and there was no smart tv with access to streaming services the other is they painted the doors in the hallway with an oil based paint during the day and our room had a very strong smell of paint the rest of our stay.
The room itself was comfortable fir our family if 4. The little disc was made up into a twin size bed.
The pools really are amazing. Don’t miss the free iguana tour! We saw amazing wildlife- including sloths, toucans and macaws.

This property is a well-run, fun resort that Ofers lots to do, and I think families would like it too. While this Marriott property isn't oozing with Costa Rica local stuff (read- it's a US resort) it's easy to get to the more local stuff easily. I was highly impressed with their servers and all employees as they're extremely helpful, attentive and very nice. Better than anything you'll find in the states, except for a few hi-end resorts. And the food was fabulous, and we eat on the healthier side and the quinoa bowls were tasty.

The property is very outdated. The pool looks and feels like it was constructed in the 1980’s. When you pay more than $700 a night for a room with double beds - you expect at least a comfortable mattress - but they were not. Rooms were very small.
The beds were very small.
Not to “Marriott” standards.
Worst Marriott I’ve stayed at in 40 years.
Front desk staff was very rude to us and not accommodating.
The food was not very good.
Very expensive, high prices but low quality.
The hotel also allowed for a boat tour service to sell on their property & they ripped us off on what was supposed to be a family catamaran trip around several islands. It wasn’t . The guy lied to us and took our cash.

Great hotel, location and lots of amenities. Maybe be a little more cautious with the music at the pool. Sometimes their are children around and the lyrics are not something the parents want their children to hear. I would recommend this hotel.

The trip started out great. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. They got us booked on the tours and excursions that we wanted to do. But, as the week progressed, the service and hospitality became atrocious.
-While on a tour, my girlfriend was stung by a black wasp on her left hand. Not knowing that she was allergic, we went about our day. The next morning, I woke up to her hand being tripled in size. She was unable to move her fingers, was in immense pain, and needed help immediately. Upon alerting the woman at the front desk, she informed me that our two options were 1) to take a $20 cab ride to the medical clinic which was located ON the resort property-no more than a 2min. drive 2) to walk there-approx. a 20min walk in the 95+ degree heat. The woman at the desk saw her hand and saw how much pain she was in and offered us no help whatsoever. We were never offered a ride on a golf cart to get there as fast as possible, nor were we offered having a medic come to the hotel. Those were our two options and that was it. Being that we were not going to pay $20 for a 2min. cab ride nor wait for a cab, we walked. We were appalled at the lack of care or concern the employees showed when one of their customers was in visible pain.
*Side note-Carlos the EMT at the hotel was EXTREMELY helpful. We were finally put in touch with him 2 days after getting stung and after refusing to go back to medical clinic. He really took the time out of his day on multiple occasions to make sure she was doing OK. He even took the time to wrap her hand 2 days in a row. He is an extremely hard worker, is caring, compassionate, and should be praised for his hard work.
-A group of 30+ children and their mothers were staying at the hotel for 2-3 nights during that week for a 5th grade graduation retreat. Once they arrived, the children were running wild throughout the hotel, by the pool, on the beach, and in the main eating areas. They had no supervision by their parents and the resort staff did nothing to make sure that the other resort guests were cared for. The children were climbing on and jumping off of the pool bar, running by the pool, making a game out of splashing other vacationers while laying in the sun, and jumping out of the La Vista restaurant into the pool.
Both mornings they were there, they jumped into the pool from La Vista, splashed my breakfast to the point that I had to go get another plate-no one working in the restaurant said anything. While by the pool bar, I had no less than 5 drinks ruined by children climbing up the side and jumping off of the roof. The children were so incredibly loud that you could hear them half way down the beach. They screamed constantly throughout the day, making it impossible to relax by the pool. The pool staff only catered to them-it took me 4 hours to flag down one of the pool waiters to get me water. They had no regard for other people trying to enjoy their vacations, and neither did the staff. 3 days of my vacation were completely ruined. I complained to the front desk 2x, and nothing was done.
-Our reservation included breakfast. Every single morning we had to wait at least 20mins to eat breakfast because they had to check and make sure our breakfast was included. Again, this happened EVERY morning for 7 days.
