Uwilya the receptionist and other gentleman at the reception desk are the best. Very friendly, courteous and helpful. Cannot ask for anything more. All the cleaning staff was really good too. Beautiful garden, view of Arenal volcano, and breakfast. Will definitely recommend hotel secreto to our friends and family.

Service was great. Staff was super friendly. Breakfast was nice in the morning. Walkable to the town but quiet at night. Unsure about the safety in the surrounding areas but we never had an issue. The hot tub advertise is actually a children’s pool. the rooms were very clean. All around a good short stay

I can’t say enough about the staff here. Friendly, helpful just an all around pleasant attitude.
The grounds are lovely and well kept.
The breakfast is very good and the location is walkable to downtown la fortuna.
My one complaint is that the walls are very thin which, unfortunately for us, resulted in a prolonged extremely early wake-up when a young child was loudly crying for quite awhile at 3:00 in the morning

Room was a decent size and we liked the large shower. Breakfast was a choice of three options and tasty. Couple of small swimming pools which the kids loved playing in. For me, the highlight was the garden. Large and immaculately kept. You could hummingbirds and countless other species of birds, sloths and iguanas all from a sun lounger. Loved it.

Amazing staff, property, and amenities. We had grandma, two kids (one toddler). Kids loved the pool. Highly recommend. Walking distance from downtown a plus. My kids loved Olivia!

From the moment we arrived, I was greeted by Elver who was very kind to explain all the details of our stay. He pointed out several things to do at different price options that would be good for our family. He came out to show us a couple sloths on the trees. And next day helped us with booking a tour. The rest of the staff was also very nice. We had room number 5 which had the best view of the volcano, maybe because I had asked for a special treat for my kid who was cwlwbrating her birthday the day we arrived.
The hotel is right in the town which we loved as you could walk to the oark, restaurants and shops. I prefer that than other hotels that are farther and have their own termal pools because if you stay there then you would have to drive into town to explore or eat and shop.
Beds were confortable, very quiet at night. Great location. Amazing view of the volcano.

We waited until the last minute to book our trip to Arenal, and this is what we found. All things considered, I think we were quite lucky. Don't forget, it is only 2.5 stars. We had stayed previously at the Arenal Observatory lodge. It was fabulous, but pricey. This time, we wanted something central and more affordable. This was a perfectly acceptable hotel on a budget when you intend to spend most of your time elsewhere. It's not a hotel you'd want to spend much time in otherwise. The hotel is new looking, which is nice, but the pool is really tiny. Also, there's no WIFI in the rooms, and the lobby/dining area -- where the WIFI is located -- is not very comfortable. My kids hung out on the one couch in the lobby, and at least the staff didn't seem to mind. The staff were quite nice and helpful. There's also a breakfast included, which is a nice bonus, and while the coffee was fine, I usually walked over to the Organicos restaurant a block away for really good coffee and banana bread.
