Hotel Monte Real

A great place to stay. A big plus is the little river right beside the restaurant and sitting areas. The river was scenic and relaxing to listen to and provided wildlife sightings. Tiger herons, toucans, parrots, big King Fishers, two otters and several huge green iguanas, a mother sloth and her baby were all on the beautiful grounds of this hotel. The restaurant at the hotel is right beside the river; a wonderful place to eat. Besides the good breakfast which was included; the restaurant was also open for lunch and dinner. It was closed on Tuesday for lunch and dinner when we were there but I am not sure if this is a regular closure. We appreciated having the restaurant on site when it was pouring rain as we did not have a car. Even though there were several restaurants close by we did not want to get wet. The staff in the restaurant was wonderful; they were always looking for wildlife to show you. Location is great, close to everything. The easy hop shuttle stops right in front of the hotel. We had a junior suite with 1 king bed and while our room had a great view of the volcano it did not have an outdoor sitting area like most other rooms. The sitting area was inside and even though there were huge sliding doors to open I prefer to actually sit outside. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and it is amazing just to see all the vegetation. We loved our stay here!

This was such a nice hotel. We had a comfortable room with a fantastic view of Arenal. The pool was nice to cool off in. We walked the paths along the stream and saw pretty flowers and birds - toucans! We enjoyed dining to the sound of the running stream. The included breakfast was amazing! The staff is so friendly and helpful with everything! Luis became our best amigo! Just a happy nice guy who made us feel like family! My son left his sweatshirt behind and when I called a day later they had it! Honestly I will stay here again. It is t fancy but it’s perfect and you can walk to anything downtown. Great location!

Beautiful property between river and road. We came here for one night only after our other place flooded. I wish we had been here the whole time. Booked the junior suite with balcony and river view. Very peaceful. A sloth was sleeping up in the tree in the morning. Breakfast was nice. Staff very friendly.
