Holiday Inn Express Sault Ste Marie, an IHG Hotel

Too many families with young kids that didn’t know how to keep quiet in the hallways and respect the other guests. Breakfast wasn’t the greatest either.

Pool was down and wasn’t told about my children were disappointed like huge that was was the reason why we chose to stay there wasn’t notified of the closure

The electricity went off at the hotel. I was on the second floor and the noise was extremely horrible with kids running up and down. Carpet on floor was grubby and felt gross.

From the moment I walked into the doors I fet like I was being treated by family, the lady at the front desk was so friendly, big smile, was quick at checking us in and explained well where to locate things, the house keeper was so friendly gave my daughter and I some helpful tips, and went above and beyond, this was an amazing stay with friendly kind ppl and I will definitely be back

When we pulled into the lot, I thought we had made a huge mistake. It was packed with kids running around. Inside was worse — loud kids and parents, there for a hockey tournament across the street, we’re running, yelling, etc., especially in the breakfast area. However, when we got to our room, we found that it was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. We didn’t hear a peep from the kids, and slept well before continuing on our trip early the next day. Surprising number and variety of restaurants and bars to choose from in quick walking distance, too!

The property was nice. Rooms are just rooms, no dishes or anything in there. There was a hockey tournament and kids were running around throwing stuff down the staircase wish they would check the halls and stop them from playing in the halls. Beer bottles in the parking lot some were broken.

I would not stay here again based on my experience. The walls are so paper thin that you can here the entire conversations of the people on either side of you. Until after 1am on a Sunday, I had to listen to a huge group of people yelling in the room beside me and in the hall. My kids couldn't sleep. Even when people were in the hall, you could hear everything. There is only one elevator. The hotel was packed, so we kept taking the stairs. The door to the top floor is damaged. The front panel of it is partly detached so when we went to open it, my hand got caught it in and caused a blood blister. We don't normally stay here, but most hotels were booked. The nightly rate was double what we pay in the Sault, but my daughter had a medical appt in southern Ontario and we were driving and needed to stay somewhere. For the cost, it isn't worth it if you're actually hoping to get a decent night's rest.

It was OK, the pool was good but small. Hot tub glugged water as opposed to actual jets. Breakfast was decent. The beds are OK but not great. I did like that they had large bottles of hygiene products in the shower rather than using so much plastic on little ones. The staff in general was friendly and helpful. I'm not sure if they renovated during covid (so short staff/supplies) or if it needs renovation but while you walk in and the lobby is great once you hit the 2nd and 3rd floors they need some attention (wall paper peeling although barely). In general I feel this hotel was overpriced for what you got and should be closer to the $160/night out the door.
