Howe Sound Inn & Brewing Company

I would hate to leave a bad review for anywhere but I’m really hoping this can be a learning experience as it’s an easy improvement. First, the profile says free onsite parking but that is not true, due to the brew pub you need to park mover a block away and the staff said, “just move your car later”. The most aggravating was the “breakfast”, which starts at 7:30. I arrived at 7:45 as I was told at check in that it’s there and we get it when we want. Well I arrived and there was no food that wasn’t cereal boxes left and the front desk staff told me they don’t replenish it. I saw some child with 5 danishes sitting nearby so it’s a continental and first come first serve. You snooze you lose. I brought this up that guests pay extra for breakfast to the front and all she said was, “we will need to change that on our website”. These are easily correctable but until they are you are paying too much and should get a condo where you can cook for yourself and have a shower with hot water.

The Inn is dated but clean. I was in a room with an adjoining door and because it’s an older building there is no sound proofing. Because of the adjoining door I could hear everything from that room. I was woken several times through the night by a young child crying throughout the night. It was so loud it sounded like they were in the same room. Even in the room on the other side of me without an adjoining door I could hear the person snoring. It would be really helpful for the Inn to invest in updated doors that help with soundproofing. Location is walkable to groceries, restaurants, etc. There was sufficient parking. Staff were average. When I gave my keys in the morning they just took them, didn’t ask how my stay was and carried on with their conversation with the other staff. I would probably try other accommodations next time in Squamish.
