Sandman Hotel & Suites Abbotsford

I want to start this review off with actually thanking the front desk staff for getting us a suitable enough room for the night. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly, and they did their best to accommodate us on a sold out night. We booked the king suite, which was completely unsafe for our toddler. There’s a massive window behind the bed with no headboard. The hotel was filthy in the rooms, and did not smell good. After asking for a room change, we went to check out the second room and it was even dirtier than the original one we were put into. We were quickly given another room for the night, and although it was cleaner than the 2 before, the floors were still sticky and the kitchen was still not cleaned properly. The area around the hotel is dingy. The pictures of this hotel online are not a real depiction of the hotel itself. Do not book here if you want a clean room, or a good nights sleep. Thank you to the ladies that tried to make our stay better, I really did appreciate you. I wish you had better management to uphold better cleanliness standards, I can imagine this does not make your job easy.

There were junkies in the parking lot, leaving used needles lying on the ground. We had to switch rooms because our first room smelt like cat urine and the carpet was wet and sticky. Furniture was in poor condition (they said they were going to change it and then didn’t). No one came for room service despite us calling 3x. Then they came the next day but only brought towels and didn’t clean the room. There was no coffee for the coffee maker and the teflon frying pan was scratched beyond useable. Beds were very uncomfortable and the curtains didn’t close properly. Only redeeming thing was the staff were friendly and did what the could. We ended up going home one night early even though we’d already paid for the room. Two other families were there with us and they also had to switch rooms due to poor cleanliness and smell.

Very central to everything we wanted to do & everyone we wanted to see. Huge hotel! Denny’s room service & a brand new restaurant in the parking lot. We did a pickup order & the food was hot & delicious. We travelled with our toddler & baby. The room we stayed in had a separate bedroom which was fantastic for bedtime. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The suite was beautiful! It was just like living in a condominium. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. We will definitely stay wherever we need a hotel room near the Abbotsford Airport. I would highly recommend this to friends and family.

Very nice room, deluxe king suite. Very close for visiting family and friends in and around Abbotsford. Superstore is right across the street so great for grabbing needed items. New Restaurant(The R) in same parking lot was very good.

I traveled for business and while the room was very quiet overall the fire alarm in the hotel went off a few times one morning. My room was pretty clean but there weren’t any proper glasses or paper towels in the kitchen. I asked for water for the coffee and if the hotel sells bottles of water and was told the vending machine was broken so they didn’t have any water. I was directed to go ask Dennys, and they didn’t sell bottles of water so I went over to the gas station across the way. If a vending machine is broken they should be able to supply water to hotel guests. I was disappointed overall with the no frills room/hotel. I also did not feel safe here as a woman business traveler as I had a minor incident/exchange with a fellow elevator rider. There were lots of men staying here, the hallways smelled of marijuana when I arrived on my floor. There was a drawing etched into the nightstand by my bed that maybe can be indicative of the clientele this hotel is attracting these days. I would post it but it’s not a family friendly image. Will stay elsewhere next time.
