Royal Hotel Calgary, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

Service was great. Upgraded our room to a suit which was much appreciated. No pool so a bit of a let down for the kids. Everything was nice it just seemed like it needs a bit of better upkeep. Wasn’t dirty but didn’t feel super clean either.

The room I was put in was room 117 the staff don’t care how loud people are talking, kids running and screaming up the halls past 11:30 pm then it begins again at 7 am. The room above me you hear every footstep and when the toilet is flushed. I got no sleep. Would not return.

Cleanliness , woodflooring , freshness nono bad odour of old carpets , excellent customer services at reception and daily cleaning of washroom and breakfast services in dinning area is unique. In last two months i and my family stayed in Royal hotel 5 times and is a best property for long stays .

When I checked in the person was not friendly or clear when he spoke. I could hear children, they actually woke me up at 1130, very noisy. The shower felt gritty, like it had not been rinsed properly. And the AC worked well for 10 minutes and then turned off, way too warm.

Value for money, good for families.

The staff member, Evan, that eventually checked us in has a major attitude and was very rude, unfriendly and judgemental. He refused to check us in even though check in was after the 4:00pm check in time, one of my family members tried to approach the desk and he literally waved her off and said “I’m too busy to deal with you, I’m with someone else” and he was referring to our group that he was refusing to check in. Also, it doesn’t state on the Expedia website for this hotel or the hotels website that credit cards are the only source of payment for security purposes. I paid for the rooms online with my debit visa, rooms were paid for but he refused to let us check in unless we used a credit card for “security” purposes. I had my 80 year old mother, we weren’t there to wreck the place yet he continued to refuse check in. Once one of the family members (not everyone uses credit cards) we were travelling with was willing to use his credit card to “hold” the security deposit he allowed us to check in, but not without hesitation and more rude comments and major attitude. It’s in the best interest of the hotel to put Evan washing dishes in the kitchen away from the public.

Good & relaxed stay. Very comfortable with 2 toddlers.

Decent rooms, the restaurant part was closed when we arrived. The lounge was open for dinning; however we were a large party and they could not accommodate us. We also had children with us and they were not allowed in the lounge past 9pm. This was the only disappointment. Also advertised a family zoo package in the elevators, but when I inquired I was told it needed to be purchased before paying for the room. Would have been good to be told of this option during check in.

Stayed two nights. Our room was Clean and quiet. Breakfast was okay- would have liked some juice for the kids and the coffee was not good at all but it is free so went and bought coffee. Check in was okay - the gentleman was kind of quiet and not as friendly as other check ins I have experienced but completed the task.

Comfortable beds, the room was clean, but the pub/restaurant was the only option for us to dine in. It had limited places to sit and it was uncomfortable for my child to be in as there were really only adults there.
