We had a one-night stay as part of a family road trip around Minnesota and western Wisconsin. We previously lived in the La Crosse area and always heard great things about Stoney Creek, so we were excited to stay here.
Overall, we were extremely disappointed and frankly, parts of the property and our room could only be described as gross. Our two-bed room on the lower level had mold on the ceiling, peeling wallpaper, and a musty smell. The bathroom door would not close unless you put your shoulder into it. The room felt very damp.
The kids were excited for the pool - the pool area was absolutely disgusting. It’s an “indoor-outdoor pool,” but the indoor pool area had large spiders all over the walls, and there were three frogs and all sorts of bugs swimming around the indoor part of the pool (we rescued the frogs and put them outside). The water felt slimy and clearly is not being treated at appropriate levels if frogs were swimming around living their best life.
At checkout, we were not even asked how our stay was. It is very clear maintenance/upkeep is not a priority here. Even outside, all of the landscaping is overrun with weeds. For $210 for one night, this was an awful experience. We would not return.

Nice getaway with family. Great ambience in the lobby and outside w/ fireplaces etc... Breakfast was decent. Comfy beds. Fun games in the bar downstairs; not many people were hanging out though. We had to walk back into the kitchen area to let the employee know we needed service. Recommendation: Get new darts for the dart board:)

The room was nice size, location was good. Breakfast was great. Really could have appreciated more for kids to do. They have a bar with lots of bar games for adults but other than a few arcade games (4) if I recall and a tic tac toe game in the lobby not much to do. It seems like a fun themed place that is missing the mark for families. The pool needs cleaning, my grandson helped by removing the dead frog he found, though the frog was not their fault it was not any cleaner on the last day than it was on the first. Abundant Pool Towels and the shower by the pool were nice touches. My Key cards had to be reset 3 times basically daily because they stopped working. The clerks all told me it was because I had put them near my phone or watch. I keep it in my purse and that is where I keep it at every hotel I stay at and it is also where I keep my phone, so I don't know why it doesn't happen elsewhere. I was alarmed to discover that each time I had my key reset I was charged the full room rate again. I gave them a day and was pleased to see that they had corrected the error, but I wonder what would have happened if I had a smaller limit on my Credit card. All in all, I would stay with them again if I got a good rate, but I was not wowed by the hotel.

Our family enjoys visiting Stoney Creek at leaset a couple times a year. It has spacious rooms, wonderful breakfast, and we enjoy sitting outside by the fireplace to finish our evening.

The room was clean, but for the price it was definitely a little disappointing. It’s got some cute wall decor, but the appliances are fairly old. The door repeatedly failed my key. I had to get a new key 8 times. It’s important to note that they don’t allow you to check in if you’re younger than 21 due to the bar. Overall the premises and the pool has great character, but the staff are fairly lazy when it comes to children. They allowed many to just run around through the halls and do as they pleased. To rate it I would give it a 6/10 simply because I don’t think the price matched the quality and the expectations given through the website.

The room was awesome well appointed but did Have some wear. Our fireplace did not work, but that was OK. We were just going to use it for the ambience. There were many families and we were on the first floor and could hear children running around. We especially were surprised and enjoyed the complementary drink at the bar however, the bartender could have been a little more friendly

It was SO comfortable. Our big family of at least 20+ ppl stayed in different rooms they’ve offered here. We have into some employees who were training at Kwik Trip. Loved our rooms!! Although, the quiet hours are slow to get service. I am still rating it as excellence. The hot tub in the room is a plus for my family! We really enjoyed it together.

I had to wait 15 min in the lobby to check in at 8:30 pm because no one was at the front desk. I was told they switched my reservation from 2 queen beds to a king with a cot - I didn’t feel that paying over $200 for one of my family to sleep in a cot, especially since my reservation was made 9 months in advance. After asking for the manager a room with 2 queen beds was found. I was charged $199 even though the Orbitz charge was $166 - I am very disappointed with the management of this hotel!
