Holiday Inn Express Charleston, an IHG Hotel

Before we checked in we went to the beach. My child’s insulin pump broke in the water and there was no way to give her insulin or control her diabetes. We rushed to check in and figure out how to manage her diabetes out of town. The front desk was so supportive and listened to me as I was so upset. They quickly got us in our room. After we got the doctor to send prescriptions to pharmacy there, the front desk made sure I knew how to get to the pharmacy (it was a Saturday evening and we needed to use a pharmacy in North Charleston due to early closing of other stores). When we got back to the hotel, they asked again if we got everything figured out and if we needed anything. The next morning when we were checking out, the same lady was there and asked again if my child was ok. The customer service was beyond what I ever expected. They remembered us every time and asked if we were ok. The hotel room was perfect, bathroom was huge, and we loved the Dove toiletries! The breakfast was over the top amazing! The lobby had a lollipop tree you could take one from. It was just as much the small touches and the huge touches that made this hotel stand out from the rest! These women that helped me check in need recognition for the way they went over and above the entire stay! We are very thankful!

We stayed there for 2 nights in July. The A/C went out on the first night. I called the front desk and the guy told me that the hotel was "booked out" and he couldn't move us to a different room. We ended up sleeping and sweating in the July heat without the A/C with a young child. The next morning I called and asked to speak with a manager. Never got a hold of one, but we were moved to a different room. I had to walk around looking and finally spoke with Leila, who said she would look into it. As promised, she called me back briefly, twice, in about ten mins. She'd credit $89 to our account. A few days later, I found out the credits/charges were messed up. I had to call the hotel about 3-4 times to get them straightened out. It took 5 charges/credits to fix the problem. Overall, I wish the hotel to be more professional. The management (Leila) did try hard to remedy the issues. We would stay there again for that reason, and for the good location of the hotel.

The staff was friendly and very attentive. We were able to check in 2 hrs earlier. Which was great since we have a toddler that needed some rest. The room was super clean and the beds were comfortable.

This hotel discriminates against local families who live in the area and need a room while we're unable to stay in our home for the night due to an emergency.

Even though the property has been renovated and the rooms are lovely and comfortable I found urine on our bathroom floor…not sure if it was from a human or animal as they allow pets. Pretty gross either way. We used the pool one night and the sides of the pool had scum on them, so that needed a scrub. Plus there was a lot of activity at night with people going outside to get high so I don’t think I’d bring my children to this hotel.

My husband and I came down for our babymoon and had a great time here at Holiday Inn Express. It was the perfect distance from everything we were hoping to do and provided free breakfast which was delicious!

Comfortable and convenient hotel. Staff was very friendly and child friendly.
