Frequent visitor to State College. Visiting for a family member funeral. 3 rooms, 1 of which is for 2 handicap seniors in a handicap accessible room. Beds, from the online pictures, looked to be on wooden platforms. I called a week prior to confirm that the handicap room was NOT on platforms in that I needed access under the beds for a sit-to-stand device. Was told that the handicap room beds were not on platforms. Upon check-in the handicap room was on a wooden platform with no under bed access. Abigail, at the front desk, was a hero. Too often you get a silent "sorry, sucks to be you" attitude from people. Abigail showed empathy and went above and beyond to help us find an acceptable room. HIGH compliments to this young lady. We ended up finding a "work-around" for the room we had which saved the day for our elderly parents mourning the loss of a brother. Love the Penn Stater, highly recommend everything about it. Great environment! Great location! Didn't get to visit the Legends sports bar or the gift shop but I will on my next visit. Told everyone at the front desk how Abigail was such a superstar!

Staff is friendly and always willing to hear out what you need. Would recommend a lifeguard though as nearly got jumped on by a bunch of kids and hit by a beach ball multiple times when using the pool.

It was close to State College Area. Didn't appreciate being put in a Handicap room. That was not the room I picked. I booked my stay in advance. The front desk staff told me that Expedia picks handicap rooms for their clients and don't tell them. That is awful. There couldve been a person who may have needed that room and got turned away. So they didnt change my room. The customer service was awful. The guy went to get the manager and that person didnt come out and speak with me about the issue. What a nice way to say we care about the money only and not the customer. I cleaned my own bathroom. The towels smelled like they were washed in dirty water. The shower had left over soap stains on the wall. Since all the hotel rooms were booked in this area for my child's college expo. We were stuck here. I will not return.

The hotel is dated, but was clean enough and comfortable enough. The issue came in the Saturday night of our stay. The hotel hosted an event that appeared to be a wedding reception. As any other adult beverages were consumed by many and I am there with my child for an event that has us up very early. So at 1:30 am when intoxicated adult’s return to their room and are loud then knock on random doors. To which I requested they not do so S we had an early day. Then to their amusement they go ahead and do it a second time they were met with a very clear and angry ultimatum. I proceeded to contact the desk to be informed the only option is to call the state police, really!!! The staff informs me that she (20-30’) is the only attendant at work, now that’s unbelievable to host an event and not have more desk and security on site knowing this is a reception with alcohol. Very unprofessional and disturbing to know this is how they handle these events!
