Courtyard by Marriott Durham

We visited Duke University to help my child move out. The hotel is 2 miles away from both East and West campuses. We stayed on the first floor. The beds were comfortable, and the pullout table was convenient for work. Other amenities are basic but has met our needs.

We have been coming to this hotel for years to visit family in the area. It has definitely declined. The rooms are ok but the furniture is scratched up, the sink was cracked, the tub was mottled and peeling. We stayed 5 days and had no housekeeping services during that time. The only food service in the morning was open one time during my stay. The rest of the time it was closed due to staffing. Overall a very disappointing stay.

Our experience was disappointing. The hotel is very old. There were several rooms on our floor, including ours, that didn't have a room number on or around the door. The toilet was low enough to be considered a child's toilet. No microwave in the room. The common microwave on our floor was out of order. The elevator was not working. We went out to our car at dark and not a single light was working in the parking lot. There were guests trying to come inside and could not find their way because of the darkness. This was very unsafe. We requested a different room with handicap accessibility and was told there were none available. We were surprised that Marriott would allow their name to be associated with a place like this. It looks nothing like the pictures on the internet.
