Danfords has many buildings on the street that house hotel rooms. So while you check in the main building; your room may be two or three buildings away. Parking pass is provided, however parking space is VERY scarce during the summer season. This is difficult when trying to get your bags (and family) to your assigned room.Definitely difficult if you have any type of disability. We had to request coffee, and bathroom products more than once, as containers were empty, or not provided. The beds are super comfortable and the room size is nice. Village view is a bit noisy, but the AC Unit at night did drown out traffic noise. Location is nice for shopping and ferry access.

I grew up on Long Island and loved to go down to Port Jeff on a summer night to walk around or get an ice cream cone. I moved out of state in 2006 so when we were booking a trip to come and visit family I didn’t just want to stay in a hotel. Danford’s was always such a nostalgic place so I wanted to stay here. So happy we did. We rented a car but only needed it on days we visited family elsewhere. Would definitely stay here again when coming to visit family on Long Island.

Danford's has always been a classic icon in Port Jefferson harbor, and after having lived in the area for over 25 years before relocating to Florida my family was excited to finally stay at the Inn. We found its coastal decor charming and the views of the harbor sunset gorgeous, it was also fun to be in the center of all the village activity. On the downside, the rooms are very small and we did have issues with the dated plumbing...a little disappointing at this price point but we would definitely return in the future.

A Three family trip ad we all had a fabulous time. My husband I had a great room, when sitting on walkway which had chairs we either overlooked roadway and people watching or sunset and the harbor. The other two rooms were on the other side of the roadway and they overlooked the parking lot and dumpster. They never complained about their rooms because we all were having such a wonderful time.

Lovely place for an overnight stay. Parking was conveniently on-site, and location was close to shops and restaurants. Staff were welcoming and friendly. My family enjoyed the continental breakfast as there was something for everyone. The room was spacious with comfortable beds. The outside deck could use some upgrades and one of our windows did not lock, but we improvised a security measure while sleeping. There was a wedding reception on our day of check out, but I still received friendly service from the staff. Will definitely stay again!

Do not stay here. Not children friendly at all. Not accommodating, very rude staff.

First off tried calling front desk multiple times and no one answers the phone.2 made reservations on line and dates were incorrect and needed to be addressed again no one answered phone. Finally talked to front desk and she had no authority to change reservation. The manager called and straightened it out said she would email confirmation and never did. Mind you I had told her I would be attending a funeral. So at that point I just arrived on Monday the 8th . Luckily the room was ready. Then I attended morning service for the funeral and come back to my room My wife and I were sitting ther and housekeeper just walks in No knock or anything. Are you kidding! Then as far as the condition of your establishment you should probably just burn it down and let a real Hotel rebuild it . I grew up in Setauket and lived in the area my whole life what a shame..

The location is great but the buildings are old and are showing their age. The windows let in a LOT of noise and its not a restful nights sleep. The hotel room does not have a desk or a comfortable place to setup a laptop. The bathroom is the bigger eye sore as the tile is cracking and looking up at the ceiling you see the separation in the sheetrock. The headlamps didn't work in our room and one of the outlets didn't work. This hotel is a lot of money for the rooms to be this old. Asked for extra blankets for the kids, we never received them.Asked for towels after housekeeping didn't replace them and did not receive those either.
We dined at the restaurant for breakfast and the service was terrible. There were only 2 people other than my family in the dining room and 2 waitstaff. We did not get asked for drinks until about 15 minutes after being seated and the waiter was unable to answer questions about whether or not they served a cappuccino and if they had chocolate milk. I asked if they were out and he said he just doesn't know. We were never asked for refills on drinks and after taking 25 minutes for our french toast, the food was served cold. I would not stay here again based off of how expensive it was, the state of the age of the hotel rooms and the dining experience

When traveling with a family , it was hard having stairs only , especially with stroller as well as shower with no bath tub . The shower didn’t seem very clean and outdated We made it work since the location of the hotel is amazing and convenient! Best suited for couples rather than family with toddler age

I'm originally from Long Island, and remember Danford's as a place for special occasion brunches and dinners. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to book it for my family's recent visit 'home' to LI - and was not disappointed at all. The check in staff member was hugely helpful, and noted we were travelling from the UK and were jetlagged. He upgraded us to a sea view room that had an extra bed, which worked out really well with my kids (age 7 and 17). The room had a great view of the harbour so we could watch the boats and ferry come in. Danford's is centrally located so my family could easily go exploring. It's close to Rocketship Park (a place I cherished as a child) and many downtown bars and restaurants. I would definitely stay again. The room was clean and maintained well. The only possible improvement to suggest (and it is minor) would be blackout curtains. Parking was plentiful and charged at $8 per day.
