Sleep Inn & Suites Carlsbad Caverns Area

I really wanted to give this place a better review, but too many issues checking in. After a long vacation day touring New Mexico, my family and just wanted to relax at a nice hotel. When we checked in, the room was completely unmade. Towels everywhere, bathroom a mess, beds unmade. The room just wasn't cleaned. We let the front desk know. They said the room was checked off as cleaned. Front desk was accommodating, nice, and changed our room. The next room had no power and no lights. Went back down to the front desk, after several minutes, we finally got power. Breakfast-only one waffle maker worked. This place would have been great, but too many issues. No one reached out to apologize or offer some extra amenity or future discount on a possible next stay at one of the Choice Hotels.

Our only problem was the indoor pool was unavailable for our stay. I chose Sleep Inn because of their pool. This was the second night and second hotel of Spring Break whose pool was unavailable. My grandkids were quite sad.

Staffs are nice, but the day we got there, the pool was not open, that was sad for my kid.

Me and my family only stayed one night but it was a very pleasant stay.

The man checking us in "couldn't find" any of my 3 reservations when we arrived and wanted me to be a walk in. I told him I had gotten an emails saying I had already been checked in and after lots of back and forth he found them. The rooms were not very clean, even had an empty water bottle in one when we arrived. There were multiple stains on the floor, toilet paper holder falling out of the wall, the tub stopper wouldn't stay up in one of the rooms. The pool was closed the entire time and I booked this room (and spent more for it) over other hotels specifically to have a pool for the kids.

Wonderful staff. Pool was open for kids to enjoy. Good breakfast choices.

This property didn’t live up to the reviews say it was “fabulous”. Our room was very noisy. The AC unit was very loud and so was the refrigerator. The front desk attendant was very good and the room was nice and clean but the bathroom and door had major issues. First the deadbolt on the door didn’t work properly. I had to lift up on the door handle to get the deadbolt to latch. My wife and children then couldn’t unlock the deadbolt. Very unsafe. If the building caught fire and I wasn’t there to unlock the door? Next the bathroom tub wouldn’t drain properly and we ended standing in water while taking a shower! Yuck!

The elevator wasn’t working and I let the front desk employee know. When I left in the morning it was fixed. The only complaint I have is the bed looked like a kid made it rushing to get to school on time in the morning. But other than that it was a clean, enjoyable stay.
