I was impressed with the rooms and the friendliness of the staff. Definitely stay again if I have the chance. The kids loved the pool.

Stayed with kids and room is clean.
No lift to 2nd floor. Luggage moving is challenging on stairs. Stairs are Not clean . Breakfast is grab and go. Nothing served hot even coffee. All packaged bread, cupcakes. No fruits. Be prepared before staying there.

This is going to sound harsh, I know BUT you need to know that directly across the street is a shelter. Directly across from them and diagonally across from the hotel property is a tiny house village. Although the hotel staff were very nice and helpful and I’m sure the hotel manager has a good relationship with the shelter & residents, there are plenty of 24/7 parked cars along the approach road to/from this property and LOTS if nefarious types walking around Baymont and adjacent properties and a McDonalds that appeared a drug hub for everyone around This was the only night I used my steering wheel club in my car. If you are elderly, have children, traveling alone or are a recovering addict, I do not recommend you stay here

I don't normally leave reviews, but I feel others need to know.
I had high hopes for this place for the price you pay, but it was NOT what you thought. The buidling is on the edge of a hobo village and surrounded by them, which is sketchy. The ac unit/heating unit in our room barely worked and is cheap. The screens are falling out of most the windows. The outside doors and hallway floors are dirty and nasty.
The one thing that was enjoyed was the pool, but even then, the chlorine in there was so OVERWHELMING that all of our eyes started to burn and the kids started coughing and couldnt breathe because of the chlorine as well. We only made it about an hour before everyone wanted to get out.
This is not worth the money you pay.

Photos online are very misleading. Hotel is located in a very undesired neighborhood, bordering an unhoused encampment. This made us feel uneasy.
The breakfast area pictures are also misleading.. cold cereal, yogurt and toast with mini muffins were the options. There was no fridge for cold items, they were mostly just sitting out or in a warm ice bucket. No napkins, and the juice dispenser was very watered down.
The pool area was very dirty and not clean like the photos imply also there was a mystery lettuce or cabbage in the pool floating around. The slide was sketchy.
Screens broken on windows including in the rooms. Towels were stained, and the shower rod was ripping out of the wall. The carpet was old and dirty/musty. Overall, old and run down. The cleanliness doesn’t seem to be an issue with staff but the age of the hotel fixtures and amenities.
Upon checking in another guest was reporting a suspicious man taking pictures of children in pool. This whole situation made it very difficult to relax with our three children.
The staff were amazing, and very kind.

I am not able to give an accurate rating of the hotel as a whole. There is a homeless encampment directly across the street. We have a young family and felt unsafe, especially since the entrance to the room are from the outside, did not know the room entrance was on the outside at the time of booking. Understand the hotel is not in control of these things.

Walked in the room it was smelly. Also the homeless population was very concerning to my family. I feel for a hotel that cost $250 a night the room was very run down.
The staff was kind, but the representing a very poor property.

For 250$ Canadian, I wouldn’t be in the DTES of Vancouver and I certainly didn't expect it here. Encampment across the road one way, sketchy something the other. Not how I would choose to stay, driving 1.5 hours out of the way to get to a hotel with a water slide for my kids. So scared of the camping gear in my car. I can’t take everything out. This is not reasonable.

Hotel itself is ok. The issue is it's located right across the street from a homeless shelter and homeless encampment area. Had we had known this we would not have stayed here. Do not recommend if traveling with kids, they don't need to experience this.
