Clean, friendly check in.
Thought we had the Family Suite with multiple rooms and a kitchenette but ended up with a regular room with an added bunkbed. Booking says “Family room” and website still shows “Family Suite” as an option and no other rooms called family - not sure what happened there. Sister ordered another way and didn’t get a suite either.
The beds were SO HARD! Even my sister who likes firm beds said it was “hard as a rock”. Husband ended up on the bottom bunk after the first night because it was slightly better - but he wonders if sleeping in the car would have been better. My sister in law had a mattress topper on one of her beds. Jealous! Three nights on those beds was tough. I heard there is a new owner, so hoping they will be fixed!! I would not stay again unless I knew they were.
I did like the ambiance created in the hotel - candle/sconce lights, nice pictures, and look of old fashioned rugs. Also good location.
The kids loved the pool!
Also has multiple signs saying there is a restaurant, but there isn’t.

Room was dark, needed more lighting. Tiled floors were cold, needed a rug between the beds. Shower head needed to be replaced, just delivered one blast of water. Staff were friendly, off season rates were excellent. Room was large, would be good for a family.

I chose this hotel to be close to downtown Nauvoo. The charming character of the hotel has been updated to provide guests with the comfort you'd expect in a hotel. I stayed in a room with 2 queen beds. It was very clean. The hardwood floors were recently upgraded. There is a microwave and mini fridge in each room. The staff are very friendly and informative. My trip to Nauvoo was in mid September and the restaurant inside the hotel was closed, but the desk clerk was able to recommend a good family friendly restaurant in Hamilton for breakfast. The has a pool and a gift shop. There is plenty of outdoor parking. On the down side, the TV in the room was small. The hotel doesn't serve breakfast. Check in is 4 PM and check out is 10 AM. Overall the hotel is a wonderful place for families, couples, or individuals to stay while visiting Nauvoo, Illinois. Reasonably priced hotel close to Nauvoo Temple.

Strange times we're living in. The kitchen was closed because not enough workers. I was disappointed. This is a no frills place to stay. It was clean and comfortable. We were kept up because of crying child in the next room.

Good place for families visiting Nauvoo.
Feels safe and close to historic Nauvoo. It was clean and I appreciated the extra towels
Bed are comfortable.
Shower was hot with good water pressure.
Very limited dining options.
I would families to bring most of your food with you.
Inadequate parking available compared to size of hotel.
My kids enjoyed the pool but noticed it was dirty.

We loved that there was an option available for our family of 5. That extra twin bed made a huge difference in our comfort level. Also the pool was warm. And the entire property was nice and quiet. And the price was reasonable. Great experience all around.

The check-in process went smooth; however, I had to wait for the clerk to finish her conversation with the other clerk about how she was wrong in balancing her cash drawer. That conversation between the two clerks could have been put on hold until we were checked-in and had left the room. As a customer, I didn't need to hear them politely argue as they reconciled their differences. After they decided they better acknowledge my presence, the check-in went smoothly.
At first glance at the building, I was skeptical. While the exterior looked in decent shape for being an old building, I was concerned about the interior...because it was an old building.
When you first open the exterior door of the building to enter the hallway, you are greeted with a beautiful smell. I was absolutely blown away by the beauty and brightness of the interior of the hotel. Inside our room, I was even more impressed. The room was spacious, clean, and had a very nice smell.
As a heads up, the walls are thin. We heard the parents next to us very clearly as they talked to and tried to comfort their crying baby. Once the baby settled, everything was quiet.
The "adjoining room door" doesn't have a lock on the door from our side of the room. I suspect the door on the other side doesn't have a lock on it either. Not a major thing, but I did notice it in passing by the door.
I would absolutely stay here again, and hope we don't have a crying baby for a neighbor. :)
