The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort Lihue

Beautiful property! Great pool for kids. Beach was also wonderful for boogie boarding. Rooms were spacious and had queen size beds, perfect for our family of 4.

The beds and pillows were great but the sheets and towels had stains. I blamed myself at first then watched to see if it happen again and it did. We stayed 10 days and housekeeping came every other day. Kids screaming in the kid pool most days bothered me but that is the parent’s fault. Everyone that worked there were so kind and helpful. We loved them. Food was great! Looking forward to going back asp..

This is a nice property but it is hard to walk anywhere. Plan on taking 10-15 minutes to walk to the pool, dining areas, beach, or parking. You are not supposed to smoke on the balcony but people around us were. The family next to us was very loud and kids were screaming at times. The walls and doors are not quite at all. You can also hear the planes taking off being that this resort is so close to the airport. The staff is super nice. The part I didn't like was the fees outside of the resort fees. They charged us $14 just to bring up some extra toilet paper. With that being said, the massage we got there at the Spa was one of the best massages I have ever had. It is a beautiful resort overall. The pool is amazing! The beach there is not the nicest. There was a huge volleyball tournament there the whole time so we couldn't enjoy the beach much. Overall, not worth the money in our opinion being that there are a lot nicer resort options in this price range but it is a nice resort.

Excellent facilities , clean, staff is helpful and understanding. We took our 6 years old to this place because we had great memories here. The pool is clean and warm, The room was at first level by the pool, and it was perfect for us and our son. Today we left with one only negative comment for this place- awful food. There are no efforts made for the present restaurants to offer anything different than fast food options. So I do not recommend stay more than 3-4 days. It is hard to feed a child all day with fast food options.

The resort is a great place for a family or couples vacation. Great location and wonderful service by the staff. Fabulous pool and great restaurants. What was bad. My wife and i have serious handicaps and have severe difficulty walking. There was no effort on the part of the management at all to help with a wheelchair. We were told it was " first come first serve" but they only had 1 or 2 wheelchairs. during our stay. To get to both restaurants was literally a 0.5-mile round trip walk. Unbearable. Though management said they were ADA compliant and architectural they are with ramps, etc. but for the guests they don't care at all. IF YOU HAVE A HANDICAP AVOID THIS RESORT UNTIL MANAGEMENT SHOWS SOME COMPASSION AND CONCERN FOR YOUR NEEDS.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort and would highly recommend to anyone interested in a family friendly resort by the beach.

Hotel needs a facelift and I believe they are currently working on that as there were several areas of construction going on. The pool area is very nice for families and proximity to airport makes for a great 1 night stay before a flight home.

This was by far the worst resort we have ever stayed in. Where to even start? For the price point (almost $600 a night) we were excepting some basics included. For one the hotel so very run down and needs a major upgrade. They are also in middle of construction all over the property. It’s loud and messy and the front lobby when you walk in is all papered off and a total mess. None of this was disclosed at booking. The room was gross, the beds uncomfortable and they don’t even offer water. It’s $7 for a place bottle of water in your room. They charge you $30 to self park way up the road on top of the $40 resort fee (+ a ton of taxes). The food is overpriced (like outrageous) and is basic bar food, such a disappointment. Housecleaning came pounding on our room door at 8:15 am yelling housekeeping here to clean. They woke our whole family up after we had taken a red eye and were exhausted (hiking to try and sleep in). Let’s just say there are so many others better hotels on the island, don’t waste your $$ here.

We stayed for three nights with small children. The pool was a large hit and loved there was an extra pool with slide for kids. Dining was very convenient and tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful. Loved how many dining and shopping options were nearby and the beach next to the pool. We had some frustration that it was not clearly posted that the bell hop/ level for parking was on floor 5. Not allowed to take bags on escalators. Resort is older and obviously going through some renovations.

we didnt even wanna go home. our ocean view room was stunning. we upgraded. i love this resort. relaxing and kids had fun. the staff was great from the time we arrive bell boys, to checkin staff to housekeeping. excellent. the restaurants around the area was great too. the food was excellent considering i am also a chef. i will be coming back to this resort from now every year for family vacation.
