First Stay at Candlewood Suites - King Suite
We had a pleasant 4-night stay at Candlewood Suites. While this property is not full-service and doesn’t offer daily housekeeping, the staff makes morning rounds to check if anything is needed. Our King Suite was spacious and comfortable, featuring a fully equipped kitchen, a walk-in closet, and a large desk with a nook. The TV had over 200 channels, including HBO, ESPN, and international options, perfect for late-night binging.
The hotel offers a Lending Locker at the front desk, where you can borrow items like beach towels, books, and blenders. The location is excellent, with several shops, food chains, and banks nearby, including a 5-minute walk to Walgreens, Publix and a few bars. This convenience sets it apart from other lodging options in Clearwater/Safety Harbor.
However, be aware that the elevator is currently out of order due to a lightning strike. If you have a lot of luggage or are traveling with children and a stroller, this could be an inconvenience in the 3-story property.

Great solid hotel. Free laundry facilities. Lots of restaurants right outside the front door.
It's an older hotel and could use a refresher. However, it still feels clean.
I travel as a single mum with two of my kids (ages 6 and 11). I felt safe in the hotel and walking around.

Check in was at 4:00pm. At 4:30 we to check in and the room was not available. We went to enjoy our day and returned at 10:00pm exhausted with 4 kids and ready for bed. Our room was finally ready, however, once we made it to the room it stunk like cigarettes. The smell was extremely strong and the air was unbreathable. 2 of my children are asthmatic. I have a younger child that is 1 years old. The environment is was unsafe for my family. I also have extreme allergies. I went to the front office and they said they were fully booked. They then said they have a room available but it’s 1 bed and they could give me blankets for the kids to sleep on the floor. The said they could give me the cleaning device to clean the air. I said I can try to cleaning air device. I asked how long it would take to clean the air, they stated an hour. We went to family members room for an hour and half. I went to check the room. The air was. It better. The machine was release some kind of strong chemical. We had the windows open, which was unsafe for our children. I then later learned that machine she said was ok for us to be around is extremely harmful and dangerous and nobody is allowed in a room while it is being used.

I didn’t like the fact that staff came to my room saying that there were noise complaints and if there was another one that they were gonna call the police on me when I was making absolutely no noise. When in reality they’re were noise coming from a screaming child right next-door

This was our first time staying here. We visit Clearwater often as my mom lives there, but we came for a family party and were to stay with my mom but she had COVID so we made arrangements to stay here. We did not know what to expect, but we were honestly pleasantly surprised by our room and how spacious and clean it was. When we checked in the woman at the desk upon check in was very pleasant, cheerful and professional. We asked about where to get something to eat as we had just spent hours on a plane, and she recommended a place that was just a very short walk from the property. We felt safe walking there and back home. We would definitely stay here again when we visit. Thank you.

We booked here for Father’s Day weekend weeks ahead of time. I was born and raised in Safety Harbor, so I was shocked to see this super convenient location turned into a hotel. Not only that, it advertised that it could meet our needs to have a kitchen, two separate sleeping areas, and large enough space for our family. I’m 34 weeks pregnant, and my husband and I have twin 11 year olds as well as a one year old with very specific sleep needs. When we first arrived, we were told that the room we booked wasn’t available. There were no other similar options in town, so we had to stay in a single room for the first night. The staff were very apologetic, accommodating, and issued a partial refund, on top of switching us into the correct room for our second night. We were impressed with the size, cleanliness, and comfort of both rooms, and we will definitely be back again.
