This is a no-frills downtown motel. As long as you don’t expect 5 star elegance, you’ll likely be happy. It is run by really nice local people, small biz types. It’s walkable to downtown restaurants. It is clean and well cared for- every time we stay, something new has been repaired, updated, cleaned up. Water pressure is always great, hot water is no problem. I find the beds comfy. I don’t like the pillows so I bring my own (I would anyway…I’m fussy about pillows as a migraine sufferer). We never come when it’s hot enough to swim (for me :), but the pool always looks just fine. The only thing that is a little lean is the breakfast. We make it work, but there aren’t a lot of options- cereal, toast, one kind of juice, one kind of tea, coffee, yogurt, hard boiled eggs. I understand why it is the way it is, as a small family run place- but a little more variety would be nice. Even a second tea type,& maybe some bananas would be super. But it’s not a deterrent or huge deal for me. If you want a fancy bkfst, hit one of the restaurants in town :). Oh and I LOVE their body products- they smell amazing- gender neutral but clean. We stay every time we pass through Redding (often) & will continue to do so!

To start, the gentleman at the front desk was incredibly friendly! He saw I had a bunch of kids (3 rowdy boys) and ensured I had a bottom floor room. A lifesaver after being in the car for over 10 hours because there was no way I was keeping them completely silent. He also ensured I had a parking spot near my room and gave me all the info I needed (pool hours, breakfast, etc.) The room wasnt huge but we just needed it for our pitstop for the night. It was super clean, the AC was already running (it was still 90 degrees outside at 10pm), and completely stocked with linens/towels/etc. the room smelt fresh. Which after staying at a motel 6 nearby on our drive down that smelt like marijuana and mildew, I was very pleased. The pool was a little run down but you can tell that the managers and staff are working hard to upkeep the motel. The pool was open until 10 and my kids really enjoyed getting to play after a long day. There’s an ice cream shop around the corner we were able to walk to, along with lots of other food options. There was a lot of foot traffic at night in the area, which made me a little uneasy but had no issues walking to get ice cream and back. The breakfast in the morning was great. We really enjoyed our short stay and definitely recommend!

These guys are awesome! We came all the way from Portland Oregon to visit our family still living in Redding/Anderson and they made sure our stay during the 3 days were wonderful. The pool is clean and many happy families staying there enjoying the sunny weather as well. Downtown is very walkable from the lodge and many new shops for food and coffee were just right around the corner like the man at the front desk told us. The staff makes sure you feel safe and comfortable and answer any questions at any time. The breakfast served in the morning was great and had many options. They even had seating for us while having breakfast! The beds were very comfortable and clean bedding. My parents also stayed at the lodge and the staff made sure when they arrived to place them in a room right next to us. We will be returning later this summer and staying with Thunderbird again. Great job guys, we appreciate you!

Hotel was old, room was pretty small. Just what we needed for a 1 overnight with the family. Kids really enjoyed the pool as it’s really hot in Redding. Bathroom was dirty, especially shower. No soap in room, have to ask the front desk. Shower steam set off smoke alarm 2x. Decent mid rate hotel nothing to write home about at $200/night I expect a bit more. Just ok. No real complaints.

I had a TERRIBLE experience. A few things that I did not like about the Thunderbird Lodge located in Redding, California include the following:
1) My expedia price was not honored.
2) Unclean room (bathroom, bedding, furniture)
3) The AC was NOT cold and barely worked.
4) The water pressure in the shower was HORRIBLE. I have thick curly hair and it took me nearly 45 minutes to wash my hair because of the lack of water pressure.
5) The furniture was old and run-down.
6) The TV was extremely small (maybe a 32"?)
7) Could not take advantage of the free breakfast as the breakfast room was full of screaming/crying children.
8) I felt unsafe during my entire visit.

This property was extremely disappointing for our family. First of all, the breakfast was horrible. They had very limited items available and only served from 7-9am. Secondly, the pool, although nice, opened at 10am and we all wanted to swim early to beat the oppressive heat later in the day, but we unable to. Thirdly, and most disappointing was the extremely limited parking spaces for their guests. One evening I even had to park my new vehicle on the street. We would NEVER stay here again.
