The Bell Hotel

Exceeded expectations. Will stay again. We travelled with 3 small children and stayed in a family room. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Perfect for our family. Parking was only £1.50 and breakfast was included. Breakfast quality was excellent. Not a greasy spoon, no. This was a lovely, quality breakfast offering with something for everyone. Will absolutely stay again. Great value for money.

Very nice hotel. Well decorated. I was in a family room up two floors. There didnt appear to be any lift. Breakfast was nice but slow. Wet poached eggs put straight onto toast which made the toast very soggy. Had to order more toast. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Bathroom could do with updating. Old lovely building.

Just back from a lovely one night stay, very friendly, helpful staff, fantastic breakfast, my only slight negative is thats very warm in the rooms and the sash windows only opened at the bottom and not the top which wasn’t ideal for a family room and a 3 year old. A fan was in the room so that helped. Sandwich itself is a really lovely place, wish we had stayed longer.

The Bell is a lovely hotel, much bigger than expected. Very welcoming and friendly, perfect for families. Great decor, atmosphere, ambience, top end of 3* for sure. Warm reception, and very helpful - they stored our buggy in a cupboard as no lifts and we were on the 2nd floor. The room was a family one, so 2 rooms plus bathroom. Tired in places, but clean and comfortable. Lots of storage space and view of the river, so great for sunrise, but this did make it very warm. The downside was the door had a key lock / front door style, so could not be locked from the inside which was not toddler friendly (one that likes to open doors constantly!). We had dinner in the restaurant, service was slightly slow (it had just opened), but the food was amazing. Top quality, really delicious and good portions. It was fully booked so if you want to eat later than 6pm - definitely make a reservation. Breakfast was included in our rate and there was a good selection on the menu to order, plus the usual continental items, but service was really slow. It was Easter Sunday, so maybe less staff, but not ideal with a hungry toddler! It is in a a really great location to explore Sandwich - all walking distance. Some cute shops, cafes etc and lots of historic buildings and the old town wall. All easily seen within the day. A great run / long walk to Sandwich Bay. We went first thing and it was about 7km there and back. Very picturesque with great views, a perfect way to start the day!
