We specifically booked this hotel for the leisure facilities as my son wanted to use the pool after a day at the zoo. I had already checked on hotels.com the opening hours of the pool and it stated open until 8pm. We checked in at 545 and were told that the pool would close at 6.30 for kids. We dashed fown only to be told that the pool was closed as an infant had soiled in it. Thats fine, accidents happen. We were told that the pool would reopen soon, great we thought however they said it would be after 630 and that we couldnt swim as a family. Not happy as we only stayed here for the pool and we knew that we wouldnt have time in the morning. We then got back to the room and decided to go out earlier for our meal. We then got in the shower which had limited pressure and wasnt what I would expect from this particular hotel chain. As a result, We then chose to have a shower in the leisure centre as easier than moving rooms. The bright spot of this stay was the breakfast, which was amazing. The chef came out so i thanked him and he was great with the kids. Overall, when you go away, I'm not bothered about all the trimmings, i just want a good nights sleep and nice shower to feel refreshed and sadly I got neither. Quite disappointing for such a nice hotel.

The room hadn't been cleaned very well as my 3 yr old kept on finding red feathers from a previous guest's feather boa under the beds. The gym was getting refurbished when we stayed at the hotel. Unfortunately we were only informed of this 24 hours before. As active people we were disappointed as the alternative equipment was sparse and in a very hot room overlooked by the reception area - not a great experience. We did complain about this and received a small discount on a breakfast one morning. The breakfast was pretty good with lots of choice. The pool area was good although we hadn't seen that under 5's couldn't swim until 9am so we had a very disappointed toddler at 7am. Thankfully we could entertain him with the discounted breakfast. Service was good at the reception and at beeakfast. We only used the evening bar to get some milk for the toddler, which the staff happily provided which was very appreciated. The location is good, right near the motorway and just outside of Preston along a leafy road. Parking was easy but understandably busy on the weekend.

We visit every year with our grandchildren and was very surprised and pleased with the refurbishment going on , the fitting of new carpets and workmen painting did not detract from a wonderful stay. The breakfast is second to none and fabulous leisure facilities are the best.

I'm really disappointed to report our exceptionally bad check in experience. An experience that had such an impact on the rest of our 2 night stay and a reason not to visit again. After 6 hours of travelling we arrived at the hotel at 3.15pm ready to check in. It was obvious from the silence that there was an issue. It transpired that our room wasnt ready. We were offered another family room ( one less comfortable than we booked - double.bed and sofa.bed ) which we declined. I asked Elle how long the wait would.be, however she said she didnt know as the cleaning staff had many rooms to clean and would be hard to say ? Again more silence...and confusion on my part....especially as we had arrived AFTER check in opens. I then requested if our room could be prioritised over the others being cleaned, given me, my husband and 2 children were standing in the lobby ! Elle said she would check...but no one picked up the phone. Again more.silence. I then asked if she could call me when she managed.to reach someone with a response....as waiting an indefinite amount of time wasnt what i had hoped ( and paid for !) . At this point, the offer to wait in the bar/with a drink or suggestion of a swim...or anything demonstrating good customer service would have been welcomed. Instead more silence...... It was at that point i voiced my upset....only to be met with the response from Elle that check in was FROM 3pm !!! Suggesting it was unreasonable to expect my room ready. Disappointing

I wasn’t overly impressed by the quality of this hotel. We cancelled a budget hotel and decided to book a premium hotel as we were staying over new year. Firstly I have to say that the staff couldn’t be more helpful and did everything they could. Issues, the beds were small, we had a family room and it had two double beds in. This should be ok. But all other budget hotels have larger beds. The room was nice and served a purpose. Breakfast was expensive at £16 a head. It was nice but not worth £16 I hate when smokers congregate around the entrance. On more than one occasion we had to walk through a cloud of smoke to enter the hotel. Bins overflowing and cigarette ends all over. We stayed NYE and we were disturbed by the fire alarm on 5 separate occasions. This was down to other guests thinking it was funny to vape under the sensors. Police were called and it stopped but nobody was asked to leave. The hotel did compensate me for this but it wasn’t ideal. We didn’t actually enjoy our stay there and unfortunately won’t use preston again.

The hotel itself is lovely, lovely surroundings. Service at reception and the dinning area during breakfast was superb.. Breakfast itself was amazing each day, lots of variety which I love.. Although the AC was not working, for which we received advance notice, the fan given to us did the trick in keeping us cool. Very clean and housekeeping was everyday. Major let down for me was the bar and lounge service. I had to chase my orders everytime as it appeared they forget to chase up and fulfill their orders. We had the 3 course kids menue one day at it was shocking both in service and quality of food. Food was bland and tasteless and once again I had to chase up ony orders. In the end my family left without receiving desert as no one was updating us on our order. I think the staff in the bar and lounge should be given a refresher course on customer service. I am a huge advocate for excellent customer service, particularly when people are paying for that service so this was indeed a huge let down. Other than that it was a pleasant break.

The hotel was great. It was like stepping into an agatha christy novel in terms of public domain style. The only down side was the food in the bar area wassn't that good (of course I did order mexican). They did have the best sticky toffey pudding we tried during our 2 week visit to the UK. We did not get a chance to eat in the main dining room but it looked very nice. All in all, I could stay there again, espeically if I have kids as there is a park wtihin 5 mins walking.

Nice Hotel with nice bar area. Make sure you shop around for pricing - Hotels.com was the best price. One of our family members booked direct and was told they would receive the best rate but paid £75 more for the same room during the same dates - staff couldn't have been less helpful or interested on check in and there was apparently no manager in from Friday till Monday. Make sure you check the additional charges are accurate on check out. If you have young children and plan on going swimming check the rules and adult to child ratio required. We stayed for 3 nights and there was no housekeeping during our stay. The pub/restaurant at the end of the road was really nice. Overall the stay was ok - I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back. There was a girl on reception that had recently started who was pleasant and helpful as were the staff in the bar/restaurant.
