Pretty location hotel has 3
Beaches although one is good for swinging and family fun. They had snorkel stuff (not much too see here but sea grass, paddle boards. Little two person boats all fun. Two pools once next to water nice setting. Little pool at main building dinning-room size. Pretty views though. Included breakfast is ok but the same thing everyday. A little more variation would be a very big plus.

I booked on Expedia 11/09/22 for $2,053 for 3 nights. I had the confirmation email, showed them it and they still charged me $2,441. They said it was canceled and rebooked on Expedia for the higher price on the same day. I have no emails regarding a cancellation or a rebooking and it makes zero sense why I would rebook my trip for $400 MORE on the same day. Had to pay it and not happy about it. Especially after $300 for dinner the first night and $250 the second night, $15 drinks the entire time…we spent plenty of money there trying to keep our kids fed with no snacks on the property. ($27 with tip for every order of wings). I wouldn’t recommend bringing teenagers unless you stop at a grocery store on the way. Beautiful property and I would have zero complaints if they charged me the amount I booked it for.

Did not get my Expedia VIP upgrade. Mermaid Beach is nice, but they allow non-guests to pay to use. The property needs improved. The hotel room and hallways are tile, so noise carries into the room easily. We woke up every time anyone went past - at all hours. The filtered water is only accessible by the staff, so don't count on getting it anytime you want. There are limited places to buy bottled water too. Staff is friendly, but not always knowledgeable. Breakfast was good - they even had gluten free options. Dinner food was very slow. I suggest going off property for dinner. Overall, it is expensive for what you get - I have been to other islands that cost less and I enjoyed more. It is highly unlikely my family will return.

We just love the Buccaneer! The staff is wonderful, friendly and helpful. The property is gorgeous - three beaches, delicious restaurants, relaxing pools. The property shuttles are prompt as are the island taxis. I can't say enough good things about the Buccaneer. Make it your family's vacation spot, too!

I had gone to the Buccaneer as a child, and now I returned with my daughter to the same beach where I learned to snorkel, so the trip was special to me. In most ways, the hotel lived up to my memory; rooms were great, the beach was beautiful, and the overall experience was excellent.
However, on several occasions, I was disappointed by staff shortages, slowness and non-responsiveness. It was clear one afternoon at the Mermaid restaurant lunch shift that there was not enough wait staff to handle the people. One dinner night, the waiter gave a guest with me a very hard time with sending a plate back, AFTER the waiter himself suggested it. Most annoying for me was when another night, the waiter forgot to tell me about the special. An apology and an offer to order it would have been correct. When I asked about it, he simply said that most nights, they have a lobster special and shrugged it off. No apology. Since I don't work or live in the hotel, I'm not responsible to know what the specials are "most nights."
But overall, I was happy, and I would definitely return.

We just returned from a week at The Buccaneer in St. Croix and loved it. My husband (who travels every week for work) even said it was some of the best service he has ever had. The service is first rate and everyone was very accommodating and friendly. We were upgraded to an ocean front room automatically but the view of the ocean was a little limited by trees. The room is bigger though than those in the great house.
Having the concierge desk was helpful and we book all of our excursions through them (most of the boat tours to Buck Island will pick you up at the hotel dock) and asked them lots of questions. You can take a shuttle from the airport and then rent a car from the hotel for a day or two instead of having it for the entire week. We rented one the day before we left and used it to drive to the airport.
We enjoyed having the kayaks and snorkeling gear available at the beach at no charge. They also have a variety of activities such as scuba classes in the pool, beach volleyball, and kids activities.
The breakfast buffet was delicious and kept us full through dinner time with a few snacks in the afternoon. We also received good restaurant recommendations from the front desk staff for dinner. The terrace restaurant has good food was well for dinner. The managers reception on Tues evening is nice too.
Overall we had a great experience. My only caution is to make sure you enter the ocean at the Grotto beach specifically where it tells you to because the coral to close to the shore. I went out on a cloudy day when the water was a little murky and choppy to snorkel and stepped on a sea urchin. Not fun!

The staff are unbeatable in their attempt to make each guest feel as if they are the ONLY guest in the hotel - Friendly, helpful, and willing to do whatever it takes to make your stay the best it can be. From the owner / manager to the food service staff (Melrose, we miss your smiling face!)... Everyone becomes part of your vacation family. Thr grounds are amazingly beautiful, and the rooms are clean and spacious; but it's the staff that really put this resort far ahead of the others. You won't regret your decision to stay there.

The morning breakfast was divine but after that it was a complete disappointment. The bathroom in the family cottage is a disgrace - desperately needs updating. Old toilet and tub are in deplorable condition. The service at the restaurants are very slow, and they are constantly apologizing for the slow service and thanking us for our patience. If you plan to stay at this resort, request to stay in the remodeled units over looking the ocean. The weather was perfect which was certainly one positive. The tennis courts and beach service were impressive. Overall, the accomodations and service were a huge disappointment.

My husband and I wanted to relax and enjoy each other, and the Buccaneer was the best place for that. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly, and there was plently to do at the resort and around town. The food at the Terrace wasn't spectacular, but very edible. I recommend the Galleon (at another resort) for dinner one night. The beaches are great. We can't wait to go back! We may even bring the kids next time. It was family friendly, but never at the expense of folks without kids."
