Great experience, we extended our stay with 2 days due to our satisfaction. Best hotel in our opinion in this area of the beach. We had connecting room (2 adults and 4 kids). Nice pool :) We will try the restaurant tonight. Nearby is Max restaurant, a restaurant we can highly recommend.

We enjoyed our 3 days at Methavalai. The room was spacious and clean, though a bit dated. Breakfast had a good variety of food options and everything that is supposed to be warm was warm (not all that common in Thailand). The beach is directly across the street and the Methavalie has an area reserved just for their guests, so none of that need to pay for a seat. The beach area is toward the quieter north end of town. They have 2 lovely swimming pools and a couple of childrens pool areas. The staff were very kind and helpful. Wi-fi functioned properly throughout. It's a good spot for anyone, but is especially nice for people with children. It was a lovely stay and we get to Cha-am several times a year, so will certainly return.

The price of the accommodation is high compared to the local standard. The hotel seems to be nice, but for example bathrooms need thorough cleaning. There were black stains in between the tiles. The poolside food was expensive and miserable, pizza has never been worse. The hotel restaurant is nice but extremely expensive, buffer price for Christmas was approx 50 USD plus drinks and no offers for children above 10 years. And they added 20% service fee to the prices without mentioning anything about it. Also the poolside bar added 20% to everything even if you got all the food and drinks yourself. The buffet food was excellent and variety very rich. My mother had a birthday and I ordered roses for her. We also got a cake for her. I went to hotel lobby bar to get some plates and spoons to eat it but the hotel staff refused to give them to us. I went to reception and they called the room service and half an hour later the plates were delivered to us. In this hotel the impression of customer service was negative even if the service was there in the end. The massage service and tailor was excellent. But the hotel hairdresser and beauty salon was a dirty and a messy place. The manicure and pedicure were done by a woman who propably did it the first time ever.

Liked our family room. Good staff. Sea view. Great pool area. Nice music in the evening. Opposite the beach. Shops nearby. Breakfast good. Open to seafront so expect a few flies. I will come again.
