Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Siam, an IHG Hotel

This property is one of my “ Go To” hotels when in Bangkok..it is steps away from the MRT as well as a multitude of world class Shopping malls. It also has a 24/7 McDonalds restaurant just at the entrance. The last time I was here, though the facility was in better shape as well it had better amenities.. this time around a pen and a pad of paper was at a premium as I was rather disappointed when I went to calculate what I purchased for customs sakes.. I had nothing to do so .. thank goodness I had some scraps of paper .. the buffet breakfast had better offerings and the dining staff were much more friendlier as we spoke the local language and often that broke the ice.. but this time around even with the language there seemed to be a hesitantcy to want to communicate. Also on the last day I needed to borrow an umbrella and I had to sign away that if I lost it, there would be a charge of 300b for a flimsy kiddy umbrella.. really? A far cry from the one I once knew .. none the less .. with the proximity to everything.. the Holiday Inn Express Siam is a wonderful introductory facility..

It was what I would expect from a typical Holiday Inn. Room was clean, wifi was decent. Staff was very friendly. Housekeeping was available until early evening which was nice. Hotel had a McDonalds attached to it that was open until midnight. The breakfast buffet was awesome with both breakfast and lunch foods. Only two complaints I have was there was occasionally a baby sized roach in the bathroom. I saw a total of 3 or 4 for the ten days I stayed there. Also, the TV did this weird thing where it would occasionally turn off or the volume or channel would change on its own. All in all not a bad place and I'd probably stay there again. The best thing was it was a easy walk to all the Siam malls within 10 minutes.

Perfect location. Comfortable rooms. Ideal for family.
