Clarion Hotel Post, Gothenburg

Very big and busy hotel. We were on the 12th floor so often disturbed by movements from the top floor where the pool was. Good gym but overrun with children jumping on all the machines when we went. They were with parents but no actual supervision! Breakfast was always busy but we did always mange to get a table and plenty of food on offer to suit most. The room was nice (twin room shared with my daughter) and plenty of space. Good to have a kettle plus a couple of chairs and a little table for picnic dinners! Location is handy next tobthe station and quick access to parks, main centre.

Hotel is lovely and cool in many ways. Had chosen hotel as they advertise connecting rooms and rooftop pool. However when we arrived on the sunniest day in July with the hope of taking a dip in the lovely outdoor pool advertised on website. 3 kids in tow. Only to be told that children under 15 are not allowed after 3 o’clock. Indeed disappointing. Have had a serious look for this detail on the website but cannot find? Second thing was the connecting rooms. There are apparently none. Not sure why this is advertised on hotels.com? And then it is the lovely huge outdoor balcony where the drinks are flowing. So much so that there are bouncers at the door and drunk people stumbling around. Don’t get me wrong- I do enjoy the occasional beverage myself. But perhaps not the way I had expected the theme of the hotel to be. Our second day the rain was pouring so the possibility of using the pool were non existent and although there was finally space for me on the balcony for an evening refreshment it was not quite the climate I needed. So we sat inside. At 5 pm the DJ was blasting the tunes, the bar was filling up and yet again my children were not in quite suitable environment. Jim in the bar mixed delicious Paloma! Then there was the restaurant. When the food finally arrived after over an hour wait with zero offers of more drink (empty glasses however had been removed) it was tasty. Got desert menus, tried and tried to order but eventually gave up and went to comfy beds sober.
