Clarion Hotel Wisby

We had booked a suite for our anniversary & even notified the hotel about this beforehand & they email to informed they would do their best to do something nice for us. But we didn’t received any welcome at all during the whole stay. We were so disappointed when we checked in & got a very poor suite that was on the first floor next to an alley where you basically heard everything. The room itself was very old & ugly. Since there were no other suites available we were downgraded to a superior room on the top floor with a nice view but much smaller room. We had to ask them to remove 2 extra beds that were premade in the room. Also, we had to ask to get some money back since we got downgraded. Both rooms that we got were very far away from the reception & a bit of a hassle to get to. We didn’t get any help with the luggage either. The hotel felt pretty run down & dirty. The room was very dusty. Breakfast was next to a toilet that was pretty unclean. There was no soap in the toilet & we had to notify them. The location was great & the Staff were friendly & nice & did the best they could. The gym was horrible, so small & dirty. Also the hotel should inform that there should be max 3ppl in the gym & no kids allow. We had to leave the gym twice even though we got there first because it got so crowded & one lady even brought her kid! We’ve stayed at many clarion hotels but this one was the worst. We will most likely not recommend it nor come back.

The stay started in a bad way: guaranteed 3pm check-in did not work at all. We have booked three rooms and none of them was cleaned. Wasted more than 1 hour to get in the room, which is quite smelly. Otherwise, location is good, breakfast is good, swimming pool does not allow kids to go...

If you are aware that your rooms have such poor ventilation, you should proactively test to make sure that they are at least working (at minimum) and arrange for fans or alternatives additionally. It’s not rocket science, especially since it’s a known issue according to the staff. We were given a room that had NO ventilation, we know because it was measurably hotter than the second room in the same building, also with a sea view and direct sunlight, where additional family members were staying. After complaining, we were given a new room in A house, with better ventilation for sure, but it was much smaller . We were told it was the same price class which it possibly can’t be given the size difference and lack of view compared to our original room. At this point it was 11 PM, and neither our baby nor toddler had slept so we didn’t really argue. The staff were helpful as they could be, so we definitely appreciate that.
