Good: Rooms were clean, bright and well appointed with large, comfortable, bed and a superb bathroom with fantastic shower. Bad: The swimming pool was poor with no attendant. The staff were not great, although they tried their best. The food was RUBBISH and was recycled and renamed on a daily basis. (Roast chicken on Monday was cooked 'pinl' and labelled roast chicken - on Tuesday it was cooked again and labelled Chinese chicken - on Wednesday it was practically cremated and labelled as chicken devilled!!!) The prices for the RUBBISH food were SHOCKING - overpriced and inflated by at least 250%. I love Sri Lanka and visit every year with my Sri Lankan wife and our family who live here - we always treat them to a 3 or 4 day mini break - and on other platforms you will see I leave good reviews - but I have been embarrassed to bring my family to this very substandard hotel. When I politely pointed out problems - the response was always "sorry sir, it's now 'out of season' - why the pool is unattended / why only 1 of the 3 places to eat within the hotel are open etc. Accordingly, I should now only have to pay an 'out of season' price.............. because I only received an 'out of season' service.

For the low price of rooms (under €60 a night during peak season) this hotel is well worth a visit if you want somewhere relaxing to stay with no night life. My wife and I stayed for three nights after travelling from Ella. The hotel needs a little tidying up and a lick of paint but the pool is nice and the location on the beach is sublime. For the cost per night it is well worth a visit if you are in that area. I read some reviews that said "not five star," well of course it's not five star if your paying that price, you couldn't get five star anywhere in the world for that cost. The staff are very friendly and attentive enough but don't expect them to be at your beck and call. The hotel food is average but there is an awesome family restaurant called CoCo two minute walk out the front of the hotel if you head left. It's a typical Sri Lankan restaurant run out of the family home and as always in Sri Lanka it's the best place to try amazing fresh food at bargain prices. As I said there isn't much to do at night so don't go if you want a wild night. Overall I would defiantly recommend this place for location and low price. Also they have a lovely spa but be to the beach which offer a range of massages. Also remember staff get paid a pittance so tip the staff on your first day and you will get looked after during your stay.

Out of all 7 hotels we stayed in during our Sri Lanka trip, this was by far the worst! It was overpriced and lacked the service you would expect for the charges occurred. Due to a booking error we had ask for an extra bed for our children, which they did immediately, however what annoyed us was that they told us about the extra $18 per night not when we requested the bed, but as we were booking transfer through them for $70 to the national park. The laundry count sheet didn't clearly state who was to count the items, so we left it blank. When we handed the laundry to reception, we were asked to count our laundry there on the floor in front of departing guests. The bill for laundry was a whopping £42/$65 for a small bag. Our bedding started smelling a bit, so we placed the card to request for it to be changed on the bed, but as we discovered that night, the bedding was still smelly, we knew all they did was swap the bedding from one bed to another due to a small stain being on the sheet, which was on the children's sheet afterwards. Housekeeping was generally sloppy. The manager did nothing to compensate our complaints . On a good note, the location and setting are good for bird watching, nice pool and good restaurant staff. Please note we understand you get what you pay for and have spent a lot of time in this part of the world in a wide range of accommodation between £5 a night and £ 100 per night.
