Hotel Calipolis

Hotel is on beach front with a small pool and bar area. My room was large and ocean view with a great shower. Staff are friendly and speak good English. Price was reasonable compared to other hotels. Negatives - little supervision of pool area re large groups drinking and mixing with families though admittedly it’s maybe not the hotel’s problem/ issue with drains in my room and a friends in bathroom.

The hotel looks nice from the outside and the reception, restaurant and bar are also well presented. Our room was ok but our bathroom was really not up to standard. The walls and floor were raw with a plain waterproof (plaster-like) covering with marks and stains all over. There was no ventilation in the room so we had to leave the door open to try to clear the condensation. There was a small UPVC window in the room that, when opened revealed a service riser containing the pipes used for the hotel! Why this is not a locked maintenance panel I have no idea as not only is the dungeon-like space unsightly, it would also be easy for a curious child to climb into the riser with disastrous consequences. I do not usually write bad reviews and am pretty easygoing. However, I write this one not because of the aforementioned bathroom. It is because of the incredibly unfriendly staff! Upon arrival we approached the woman at reception who could not raise a smile let alone a welcome! Throughout our stay we saw her often and could not squeeze a hello from her. I asked her for a wine bottle opener and was told to go to the bar. I went to the bar and the guy wanted me to bring the wine down from my room for him to open as he did not want to lend me one! Why say you are a 4 star hotel when you can’t provide the necessary services? The guy on breakfast reception was also disinterested. To summarise, the hotel’s staff lets it down. If you don’t like people don’t work in hospitality!

The location was perfect. Right across the beach and a kids playground, and 2 blocks away from the towns main street. The breakfast buffet was very complete and well serviced. The room was quite nice, clean and good sized. Will definitely go back on my next visit to Sitges.

My room was very good, very clean and comfortable, I had a junior suite on the corner with a nice size balcony and partial views of the beach. The staff seemed nice. They had a very small parking garage beneath the hotel for $26 a day, but it filled quickly, there is other paid parking right outside. The breakfast buffet had many options, but not exactly to my liking as many items seemed undercooked. However, I would stay yhere again, the location is great!

I booked a week in August, the high season for Sitges in the top premium category offered on Hotels.Com, being the Superior Terrace Sea View room. I booked 6 months in advance. They gave me the tiniest sea view room, the one squeezed into the elbow of the elevator lobby, but it did have the direct Sea View. The exterior of the building was peeling, in need of paint, the elevator was al scratched up, like it hadn't been updated in 25 years; the elevator lobby was stained beyond belief. The carpet looked newer, but had many stains, it was very unattractive. The main issue was the bed; I have been traveling for 50 years (I'm 69 yo), and I have NEVER slept in a more uncomfortable bed. It was hard-as-a-rock, lumpy, high-centered front-to-rear AND side-to-side, and the bed frame/foundation was very unstable. ANY movement by one person in the bed doubled in magnitude (like a water wave), and woke up the other person. I went down to the desk and spoke to the junior manager, and he said that he would do something about it; he did nothing. I went down the next morning and spoke very sincerely to "Rafa", the day general manager, and he said that he "would speak to housekeeping". He did nothing. That evening, we took the mattress off the frame and put it on the floor, tilting the frame against the wall. I spoke to the desk very day after that for the rest of the week, NO ONE EVER DID ANYTHING. I asked for a lesser room with twin beds, anything, NOTHING! DO NOT STAY HERE!

Its more business people orientated. They treat business people and families better. I would not stay there if I was single, a young couple or Gay. The crime rate in the area has increased significantly. Facilities are dedicated to business guests. This is not a hotel for tourists. Not four stars.

When we checked in, Alex checked us in and he was super friendly and very welcoming, we had a junior suite which spacious and a sea view. Going back next year for sure
