Perfect location, great service! Wonderful family getaway

I booked this hotel for 2 nights for my family and I from 1st Jan 2015 and arrived expecting at the very least a clean room. Unfortunately the room we were allocated was very dirty (smelly, dusty, cobwebs, bits of food on the furniture and the bathroom had not been cleaned as it had dead cockroaches in it). We therefore complained and were moved to another room which also had not been cleaned which we then accomodated by leaving the hotel for the afternoon so that they could clean the room! When we returned we again found dead insects in the bathroom. The same smell was in the second room and we were told that it would disappear when the fan was operated as the thatched roof created the very damp smell. This did not happen and as a result we did not sleep all night which meant we were exhausted and angry the following day, so much so that we did not even have breakfast as we were concerned about the hygene at the hotel. We therefore checked out and were charged for 1 nights stay which we were foreced to pay by the hotel but we strongly believe this should be refunded to us (1,600 SA Rands) from either the hotel or Expedia. In fact, we are very surprised that a company such as Expedia can be recommending this hotel on their website. Unsurprisingly I would not be recommending this hotel to anyone I know and urge anyone considering this hotel to look for other options.
