We stayed at the Vila Gale for two nights, at the end of a nine day tour of Portugal. It was a lovely hotel: the service was efficient and friendly. We were given a junior suite. it was a 30 minute walk for us to the river or the city centre (probably less for a younger couple). But near the metro if we had chosen to use it. And there were also plenty of buses. We ate at the restaurant one night and the food was excellent. However I would have liked to be seated apart from coach load of tourists who were having the buffet; quite noisy. I would be happy to stay there again.
