Pestana Churchill Bay

Our family has just spent a wonderful week here, our first time in Madeira and certainly not our last. We had a ground floor room facing the bay and the view was beautiful. The roof terrace view at breakfast was wonderful and there was plenty of choice of hot and cold food. As others have said, the hot food could have been a bit hotter. The coffee was delicious, we opted for Americanos instead of the coffee that is poured for you. There were lots of other coffee options too. A special thanks to Emmanuel who served us with a smile every morning and is definitely an asset to the Pestana team. We always managed to get a sun bed by the pool whenever we wanted and if you’re there at the right time you could be offered complimentary sparkling wine ☺️ We took a few trips (sunset mountain hike, canyoning and a trip to the Valley of the Nuns). These were booked through Viator and even though the pick up was meant to be from Funchal, they were all happy to pick up from our hotel. We got the bus into Funchal most days (ask at reception for the bus timetable) and often got a Bolt back which only worked out at 10 Euros a trip. To sum it up….a friendly, clean hotel with an amazing view!
