My recent stay proves this property will no longer provide a luxury experience. It is merely a perfunctory hotel hiding behind a glorious shell of a building.
Our family has been going to this hotel for years whenever we have a reason to celebrate in Manila. The common areas remain grand. Food from the buffet and room service is still good. The influx of people can be tolerated, considering it is the height of the busy summer season.
The room was adequate in size and facilities. However, the carpet was definitely well worn and poorly maintained. The closet spaces were dusty. In room amenities were definitely lacking, although the housekeeping staff are happy to provide should you need them.
The pool area carpets were haphazardly installed, and the towels were left scattered around for hours. The facilities have also been reduced. While doing laps, my partner saw worms at the bottom of the pool, which triggered our immediate departure.
The staff in the high contact areas (particularly the doormen, bellboys, and waiters at Cafe Ilang Ilang) lacked the poise, refinement, and attention required in working an establishment of this calibre. Perhaps this is a training issue as The Manila Hotel of my previous stays have never been this... bad?
I came here to celebrate my birthday. Apart from that, I used to be a member, and prior to this stay I was contemplating if it was worth renewing it. Overall, it was mildly depressing stay.
So maybe reconsider your plans here.

In need of a serious refurbishment - badged as 5⭐️but it is far from it - seems to cater more for cruise ship guests than residents and facilities poor for the volume of people - we wouldn’t recommend this to our friends and family

I make it a point to stay at the Manila Hotel every time I visit the Philippines (usually a couple of times a year) because I’m always treated like a member of the family. The staff is always friendly and hospitable, which is not the case with many of the other hotels I’ve stayed at. I highly recommend The Manila Hotel to all my friends and acquaintances visiting the Philippines!

My family used to come and stay for a nite or two or even just for a quick relaxation savoring our native food like “puto bumbong and bibingka”. Being away for 18 yrs I decided to have my one night stay-cation before I head back to New York. The staff were all helpful showing the Filipino hospitality which I never experienced elsewhere. My two main disappointments during my stay was (1) there were no enough place to sit at the lobby coz most my homies stayed and hang out at a longer time even though they were done dining. It was a big shame! The ambiance of the Historically well knowned Manila Hotel was tainted. (2) lastly, I know most guest do not stay long at the rooms. But at least before one retire to bed to call it a night, one turn on the TV to listen to news or if guest have kids or even adults would like to Watch Netflix or any channel. BUT… what the hotel offered were extremely old! That’s why when I contacted the receptionist at the lobby… I called those TV set as “dumb” coz it’s so cheap to update with a smart TV.

It was my 2nd stay at this hotel and it was wonderful. Sid at the dinner buffet was excellent and attentive to my family’s every need. Victor and Rob at the Tap Room were professional and friendly. I love staying here where the staff treats you like family.

Manila Hotel has always been a classic, I’m 65 now and still remember when I was a young boy I used to run around the lobby, our family always enjoyed to stay there.

The hotel did not keep our reservation although we confirmed a late arrived. We were upgraded to another room which was on the noisy street side of the where heavy traffic (large trucks) is moving 24/7. The hotel lobby and bar area are now eating areas and the main hotel restaurang us now buffet style eating area. When we were staying, meal time were chaotic with slow forgetful service and with children running throughout the eating areas, bar area and lobby. There are no quieter public areas to sit and enjoy the hotel facility. Staff within the hotel appear to forget guest requests and it took on occasions over 30 minutes to get drinks from the bar. Orders were taken and then forgotten. The hotel is a shadow of its former srlf and would not recommend staying there

Love the history of this hotel. The GM was able to give me and my family a tour at the General MacArthur suite, which was so special. Impeccable service from everyone…from Front Office, housekeeping, doorman/bellhop, security, food & beverage (shout out to Sid at the Cafe) with their awesome hospitality. Service with a smile….at all times. My husband LOVE every minute of our stay. We had a wonderful bay view. We witnessed fabulous wedding functions.
