Gaviana Resort

This hotel offers everything you need for a family stay. Great location by the river with quick access to the malecon. The rooftop pool and lounge area is a great way to spend a hot afternoon. The room was very spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. My only complaint was the beds. They are too firm , like sleeping on an ironing board. Staff is great and they keep the hotel in pristine condition.

We really enjoyed our stay at Gaviana. The rooms were nice, the staff was kind, and the grounds/amenities were great. The only complaint is the noise from the surrounding area. This is at no fault of the hotel. The building is old so the rooms are not well-insulated for sound. The first night we had a room on the 8th floor and there was a bar/restaurant next door that was playing music extremely loudly. We would have been able to sleep with it, but then a full live band (drums, tuba, etc) started playing at 11PM - 3AM. It was as if there was a parade right outside of our door. It was unbelievable. We asked to switch rooms the next morning and the staff was very accommodating and we moved to a room on the 5th floor and slept like babies the rest of the trip. After speaking with locals, the level of noise from music in Mazatlan is a larger issue, but please be aware of it if you are staying in Gaviana and request a room that is in a strategic position to avoid the loudest areas. Overall, we would stay again. The pool is incredible, location perfect, and the spa services were very nice.

Cannot sleep . Venues around the hotel plays Mariachi music on lound speaker until 2 to 3 AM . Hotel is nkt sound proof . I fekt like i am tryinb to sleep in a night club . Shame that they cany do anything about it . I had headache everyday . Property itsself nice , staff all areas amazing . Pool is good Monday to Wednesdays. Then all family kids check in from friday then its mayhem in pool . Please do not send people here if they are going there to get nice and relaxing holiday . Especially if you like good night sleep on your vacay .

They market this as a resort when in reality is a mid class family hotel.

The furniture was wet when we got to the room. We sat on the coach and it was wet like someone ran a wet towel over it. The beige chair was really dirty. We had snacks and milk for our kids and we put them in the fridge but we noticed that the fridge was not on. We plugged it in and later that evening we noticed it was leaking. Also the doors seemed really old and hard to close.

The hotel was ok and comfortable. The staff were nice. There was no pool so we had to use another hotels pool. Very hard with kids. Low price but you get what you paid for. Someday they will complete the pool

We had a wonderful stay, we were well looked after, as it is off season service was fantastic. We had our family come and visit, and they too were treated well. The only problem was when my Mexican husbands nephew came to take us to the airport, the hotel staff reported him as a fair stealer. As result the Taxis chased us down and blocked us in. It was very scary for us , because of all the shootings going on. Our nephew fortunately was very calm and showed the Taxi drivers his Police badge and assured them we were family. I guess the Hotel staff did,t remember him from the day before.Maybe I should have told them!

Awesome view right off the beach walking distance to restaurants. I will defenettly recomended to family and friends..
