Staff were nice and helpful. Housekeeping did a good job but we had to keep asking for towels/wash cloths because they’d clean and then forget towels. While the kitchen was a huge draw to this place, very little is offered with that kitchen. For instance, if a coffee maker is provided, why not offer at least filters? Or a starter coffee bag? Also, a dish towel or paper towels? Or some salt and pepper? It is a bare minimum kitchen so if you decide to stay and hope to do some of your own cooking, be prepared to buy everything from salt and pepper, to a pack of a 100 coffee filters and paper towels. My family stayed 6 nights and enjoyed everything else that this place offered. Also bikes were said to be offered but upon arrival I found out they are not an accommodation provided without additional costs; which I found to be a little ridiculous. I was told prior to our visit via email that there were bikes there for my 7 year old as well and there were not.

Where do I begin? Ana @ the front desk was awesome. Extremely helpful in answering all our questions and arranging our pick up and drop offs. Johnny also was great showing us around. Aaron @ the restaurant was awesome as well. Tomas our driver to and from the airport also was all you can ask for! The Hotel itself was super clean, the jungle vibe, A yoga set up every morning. This is just the vacation I needed. Relaxing and tranquil. Came here w family and they all enjoyed it as well. One more thing is the proximity to all beaches, excursions, and night life was the cherry on top!

This was our second stay and won’t be staying here again. We came for 7 nights in October and it was ok stay in Aldea Zama so we decided book another 3 nights in March and other 4 nights we stayed on Tankah Bay. Daily housekeeping wasn’t that great, no towels changed, old sponge left in the kitchen. No cutting boards to cut fruit. Plunge pool very cold not worth paying extra to have it. I would look elsewhere, the development in the area is huge so many options to choose from. Neighborhood is little sketchy too, If you don’t have a car I wouldn’t stay here- a lot of street dogs around. Copal is mostly for young people, who come party to Tulum I wouldn’t stay here with kids. If you are planning to go out on Saturday night to Tulum Beach and not drive, the cab is $30 usd and back $50 usd. Staying closer to Tulum Beach is very convenient if you are not renting a car. Kokoro is nice place to have a dinner

This was our first trip to Tulum, so we were relatively unfamiliar with the town’s zones.
Copal Tulum is located on the north side of Aldea Zama, a massive new, upscale development between the village and the ocean. The area around this hotel is mostly built-out. The Copal location was convenient for a daytime walk or a M$200 nighttime taxi ride to the town center. It is also quick bike ride/taxi to the ocean.
The hotel itself has great amenities including: 2 on-site restaurants, quick room service, a newer workout facility, a helpful concierge, pools on the roof and in the lusciously-green courtyard, and bike/moped/atv rental outside the front desk area.
All staff— especially Ana, Claudio, and Johnny — were always smiling and helpful. Our concierge set us up with a perfect afternoon at a nearby beach club.
The accommodations were perfect for our family of four with two teenagers.
Two thumbs up. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel room stunk. Literally. It was a mixture of dampness and/or cleaning product. We got used to it to a degree, but it was always noticeable. We also had a room with a connecting door to a neighbouring suite. The door might as well have been made out of paper -- sound travelled so easily and was a major disturbance for us. The family next door was not unduly noisy or anything, but one could hear everything that was happening there. Otherwise, the hotel was reasonably pleasant and the staff was friendly, courteous, and pleasant.

Copal Tulum was simply wonderful. It felt like a magical get-away, with the jungle creating a peaceful haven surrounded by bird song, copal incense, lovely pools, delicious food, and friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were comfortable and quiet with lots of space for our family of four. My teens loved it too. I would LOVE to go back.

We loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat. We stayed on the third level with its own pool. The internet connection goes off and on but if you are there for the vacation then you don’t need internet always. They have a massages there, we got the couple massage with the champagne and hot pool. They have tanning roof top pool and also a lower pool with shade and shallow area for kids. No hot tub. Their restaurant serves breakfast/ lunch and dinner with a great sushi bar. They have incense all around so the place smells and feels amazing. If you bus it to the hotel they have bikes, mopeds and four wheelers to rent. I’d suggest going early in the morning to rent the bikes or you can rent them for the week as they sell out.

I should have researched the location of this hotel with respect to the beach, as it was not close. As a family of 4, it took us a while and a fair amount of walking to find a place we could rent bikes/scooters for the whole family. The room was nice overall and the on-site restaurants were very good, though the Japanese place was a bit pricey.
