Hotel Stanza

The Hotel Stanza is quite reasonably priced for being at the edge of the Roma norte colonia next to a nice park with a roller skating rink where kids and families gather. The street, Alvaro Obregon has many nice restaurants, cafes, book stores and other amenities for those looking to stroll around and engage in kicking back in an urban atmosphere. Breakfast was good and the staff were all professional in a genuine manner and not fake. Would definitely stay there again to see more of the area, plus it is near Chapultepec Park, the National Museum of Anthropology, and other major streets and sites.

As a women traveling with her toddler abroad, my concern was safety. I booked Hotel Stanza because I read a review that Colonia Roma was one of the safest neighborhoods in Mexico City. It turned out to be 100% true. The neighborhood was super beautiful too. In some reviews people complained about the noise. I honestly think this depends on what type of sleeper you are. I live in a quiet suburban area in AZ, but I'm a deep sleeper, so I slept through the night completely undisturbed (slept at appx. 9pm). However, my friend who I shared a room with said it was noisy with sirens going off through the night (slept at appx. 1am). Observations: The air conditioning (AC) was turned off when we got to our room, so initially, it was a little stuffy. However, during my stay in Mexico, I realized that AC is not as extensively used like in the US. After we turned on the AC, the roomed cooled off and there was no further issue with the temperature. Another thing is the shower. There is no distinction from the shower floor and the rest of the bathroom. In fact, I think most of the showers in Mexico are like this. TIP: Bring shower sandals! In sum, I don't think these are issues with the hotel rather cultural differences. Pros: There is an awesome park across from the hotel and lots of fine dining. Also, a beautiful place to just go and take a walk with around with the family. Friendly staff too.
