I did not like that Expedia and Swissotel did not communicate with each other. I booked on Expedia for two adults and two children and specifically selected a larger room with a king size and sofa bed to accommodate the four of us. Despite the high nightly rate I felt it was worth it to comfortably accommodate our family. This booking was to also include breakfast. Upon checkin the friendly Swissotel staff informed me that if I wanted the sofa bed set up as a bed with linens and pillows there would be an extra 80,000 yen per night. The additional charge would include breakfast for the children. The original Expedia booking led me to believe not only that all four of us would be accommodated in the room for the quoted price but also that breakfast for four would be included. I was disappointed with having to spend even more than the quoted booking cost.

We loved our first trip to Osaka because of this hotel. It was perfectly located near everything we wanted to see and the staff went out of their way to help me as I was traveling alone with two kids. The breakfast was divine! 3am room service was also incredible given our jet lag we were up all odd hours. Thanks for making our first trip wonderful we will be back :-)

Great convenient location easy access to shopping and restaurants and a short 10 min walk to dotombori and major train lines.
That said, it was not the best experience.
I booked 2 rooms for 4 people (2adults/1 adult & 1 child) including breakfast. Both rooms cost the same but I was told that I needed to top up extra for the child’s breakfast. When asked for the rationale, I was told because the child is “tagged” to the adult not included in the breakfast. Had I booked for 2 adults the price would be the same with breakfast. But apparently hotel could not change my booking to 2 adults because I had booked through Expedia and not direct with the hotel. There is really no logic with this explanation. It would make sense if the room with 1 child and 1 adult costs different from the room with 2 adults. While hotel eventually “comp-ed” my child’s breakfast, such policies should be made known upfront during the booking or the hotel should just change this policy that makes no sense.
I was assigned a corner room right next to the service lift and what I assume is a housekeeping store. There was constantly loud banging noises presumably coming from heavy housekeeping trolleys rolling around even through midnight. The sound proofing is just bad.
We went for breakfast and was refused entry because my child was wearing slippers. After we went back, we saw multiple people wearing slippers. Not sure why hotel has double standards.
For a global chain, i expected more from Swissôtel.

We loved the central location. Easy to walk to most things. The only thing I did not care for was the pool area. Hard to use and very rigid. Felt like I was being watched for rule breaking. Not an area for children

We love the location of this hotel that it is located just above the Namba Station. The room was big enough for our family of 4, which fits our American standards. Tons of restaurants and shopping inside the station or outside on the streets. Walkable to Dotonbori and other areas. Daily breakfast buffet was a plus as most places don't open until 10am.

Spent only one night at this hotel and in terms of positioning in relation to shops, it’s perfect. We took two rooms, one for our two kids and one for us. In terms of the room and bathroom, they aren’t in our opinion befitting of a 5 star hotel. Old, smell of people having previously smoked in them but most importantly, the two rooms we stayed in did not have any USB ports in the room. We called reception to ask if it’s possible and they said no so they sent someone up to show us where they were but she also recognised that they have no USB ports so it was very difficult to charge our devices. At a minimum in this day and age I believe that 5 star hotels should have UB ports next to the bed for device charging or at the very least somewhere in the room.
Room felt like it needed a face lift

Love staying at this hotel! I stayed here with my family, and the service was excellent from check-in to check-out. The multi-lingual staff are amazing. There was a lot of space for my family (2 adults and a 23 month-old). The hotel is connected to the Namba train station, Takashimaya department store, and many shops. Would definitely recommend staying here!

The hotel was great and would work if you are traveling alone. However we booked our rooms for 3 people in each room. (3 adults and 3 kids total). Our kids are teenagers which we stated at booking. They expected all 3 people to sleep in the same bed! Acted put out that I wanted a rollaway bed. And then charged me 10000 yen ($75) per bed per room per night!! That adds up fast. And then didn’t even deliver the beds until almost 11pm. Felt like a trick!!! Beware!!

My family enjoyed the convenience of location to shopping and subway and express to and fro airport. Staff are friendly and rooms are spacious.
