Hotel San Marco

The hotel was very nice, better than most 4* hotels we stayed in, location excellent, next to the lake but very close to the center, girl at the reception extremely nice and helpful, the family room similar to an apartment and direct access to the terrace. And we loved the breakfast!! We will be back for a longer stay and probably in summer to enjoy also the pool!

Hotel San Marco is a 3 star hotel which probably could be a 4 star hotel. It has the following advantages: - location adjacent to the lake. - very clean hotel throughout. - we had the family room which was excellent. - 5 minutes walk to nearby restaurants and town. - quiet location with no noise in the evenings. - good variety at breakfast. - good pool although on the small size. - good balcony for sun bathing if pool area over crowded. - family room had good shared balcony areas. That said, we had a freak incident with our room which spoilt our holiday experience. Our children like many children have a phobia of spiders. My son kicked a large spider on the wall thinking it was a stone wall. The wall was actually made of a thin material which caused damage as per the pictures attached. The matter was reported to the management so that it could be dealt with. We had in our mind that we would have a reasonable bill to pay for the damage. The manager presented us with a bill/quotation of €450 which in all honesty for a big surprise. We were informed that they had to get some special board to fill tHe gap. I asked could they get 3 quotations as I believed this was very excessive. They refused and we were left to pay the full bill. Having worked with builders and trades people in the UK My opinion is that there is no justification for €450 for maybe maximum 3 hours work. Perhaps I will retrain in this trade and earn €150 per hour. We do not object to a reasonable bill of say €100
