Hotel Porta San Mamolo

We are a family of 4 adults staying in two rooms - one twinned and one extra double, which are next to each other. We stayed for 4 nights in Feb half term. Location: 10/15 minutes walk to main town square, 25 mins to Bologna Centrale train station. Or use 32 bus (circular) round outskirt of main town. HPSM is in a residential area which is nicer, quieter and with better air quality than those near train stations. Facilities: only triple room has tea and coffee making facilities; all have hairdryer, mini bar and safe. Lovely shower but it is a shame that it has no baths. Good breakfast, a wide range of food and drinks. Beautiful courtyards, ideal for summer outdoor seating. Staff: very helpful and friendly. Rooms are cleaned and towels replaced everyday. Overall: A great place to stay, close to main square and there are two very good restaurants nearby, one (in the corner) is listed in a guide book. Bookings are essential.

After being up for 30 hours with missed connections and luggage, we arrived at the hotel. The junior suite room was wonderful in another building. There was an excellent restaurant right across the street. The breakfast buffet was also very good and in a beautiful courtyard. The distance to the main center was walkable. Parking is an issue, but we were warned. Still parallel parking is not my forte.

An absolutely charming hotel just about 10 minutes walk from the very centre of Bologna. The staff were wonderful from the outset. We were travelling with our 2 year old daughter and they were falling over themselves fawning over her! They were absolutely brilliant, responsive and extremely helpful. Our room was a really pleasant surprise - extremely airy and spacious and a joy to be in. Also, travelling with a young child means that your evenings are spent inside the hotel quite often and this room was large enough for our daughter's cot to be tucked away discreetly in her own part of the room. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and if we ever go back to Bologna, we will certainly look to stay here again.

Stayed in a junior suite which was beautiful, large, comfortable and very clean. The staff was top notch and went overboard to help us when we had a medical situation arise. Would definitely stay here again!
