Checked in at 4:30pm (after 6 hours of driving) and discovered that our room only had two single beds for 3 people. Notified reception and was told they would get on to housekeeping. 8:30pm came and went, reception told me the manager was dealing with it. 10:30pm and still no bed so I located the manager who look surprised when I told him what was happening. Finally got another bed brought to the room at 11:00pm, 6 and half hours after checking in. My family and I will definitely go back to Cork but we will not be staying in the Radisson!

Probably due to my insufficient research, but although the hotel was generally good, a range of things stopped it being great. Being summer holidays, the hotel was full of families with children. Not an issue itself, but there was nowhere to escape the noise, mess and disturbance of large numbers of small children. The staff appeared to be mostly trainees, so they were overwhelmed with the situation, and the mess remained until next morning in places. The few experienced staff were very helpful and capable but not always available to ensure everyone was getting good service. The rooms, again good, but are getting a little tired, and very hot with no airflow. Being well outside Cork, there was also nowhere within walking distance to go. So unfortunately not the usual experience from a Radisson Blue hotel.

Second time here in a month and unfortunately second time disappointed. I love this hotel and came with our kids this time, great family room, bunk beds for the kids, however the top mattress was well beyond its life and could feel every spring. Bathroom had a broken and exposed power socket, also beware in warm weather, no air conditioning and it was roasting in halls and rooms. We had booked in for dinner but despite this and having 3 kids main courses took over an hour from ordering. It is a great hotel but I’ll struggle to return now.

The lobby was beautiful when we first walked in. Once we got to our room, we realized the room didn’t have AC, which is pretty standard for most European hotels, but we didn’t check, which was our fault. The room was so hot. They gave us one little fan and we were sweating all night. We had the windows open for some fresh air, which would have been fine, but there was a wedding right next to our room. They had a live band until 2am and then a DJ until 4am. We hardly slept. I had 2 young kids with me and 2 elderly adults. Our Wi-Fi also wasn’t working, nor was our TV. So, besides being kept awake all night, we were also bored. The staff felt very bad and tried to smooth things over in the morning. Front desk was kind, very sympathetic to the wedding. But, they should have moved our room and kept the rooms right next to the venue for the wedding guests.

Lovely hotel, we have stayed before as a large family group, would highly recommend it only for the poor staffing. We had dinner in the bar and there were a few young people training at the time, no issue with this but the manager seemed happy just to watch and observe their mistakes and then just give out to them. Long waits to order, having to go up and ask for desert rather than wait any longer, not clearing plates and then getting the bill wrong. While waiting about 20 minutes for them to correct the bill the manager felt it alright to publicly admonish his staff for their errors right beside me. Train your staff don’t lecture them in public.
