This is a lovely family establishment with a few rooms in a grand historic home near the shopping district and market. Walkable to parque central of Guatemala. We arrived late and Jessica took good care of us with preparing a little meal

My stay was exceptional. I thoroughly recommend this beautiful, comfortable, well maintained, stylish house. Communication for the airport pickup by my host was so easy and she was there waiting, driving me past locations to familiarise myself and giving great advice on the drive. The house is a beautiful ex spanish colonial place. So well maintained and kept, it just feels like a mansion but so comfy and welcoming. The two house assistants looked after me like I was family, ordering me Ubers, arranging breakfast times and choice (I recommend the omelette as they were wonderful, as was all other options). Advice on where to go, shopping stores etc was so helpful. Sophie the host arranged a great coach ride into Antigua for me from Westin Camino Real. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated in that dark wood, highly carved ex-colonial style, clean, comfy bed, great shower and wifi. All was so good. It was a hot week and although I knew the room didn't have air con, they lent me a fan and that was more than enough to keep cool in eve. Lovely garden and I adored relaxing in the comfy sofas in the stylish lounge. Walked to centre from here in 20 mins, stores nearby, Transmetro bus round the corner and lots of eateries nearby. I would stay again in a heartbeat as everyone went the extra mile to look after me - that kind of personal service is not found in big hotels but here it is the norm!

What a beautiful refurbished Colonial Guest House – welcoming and accommodating hosts and staff, delicious freshly prepared breakfast daily, and careful attention to detail. Our plane arrived very late – about 1:00 am, and host Raul was there to meet and drive us the short 20 minutes to Casa Carmel. The next morning, his wife Sophie was present to “meet and greet,” answer questions, and assist with our plans. On-staff cook Rosie prepared breakfast daily. The beautiful house has always been in Sophie’s family, going back many generations, and has spectacular hand-carved wooden ceilings, doors, and trims. The antique furniture is comfortable, and the picturesque walled patio with its lush garden is cool and welcoming, offering a private retreat. Along with the comfort of the bed and breezes, another really positive feature of this BnB is its close proximity (3 ½ short, walking blocks) to 6th Avenue with its shops, restaurants, park, historic buildings, and huge subterranean Central Mercado where one can purchase classic Guatemalan woven textiles, leather goods, and ceramics, fruits and vegetables. The Mercado’s huge “food court” offers remarkably tasty local dishes . This simple fare proved to be surprisingly varied and delicious, and the people were incredibly helpful, friendly, and honest. When we return to Guatemala, we will definitely stay again in this unique and welcoming home. Sincere thanks – Mary and Peter
