Hotel Tiergarten Berlin

The room was big and clean. The hotel is close to the metro station and the neighborhood is very nice with a lot of restaurants and bars. One of the children's bed was squeaking. The hotel exterior is being renovated but the rooms could use renovating also, as they seem a bit old and stale.

Old Berlin Stule building with charm and flair. Staff was always friendly and helped opening doors when I came through with the stroller. The room was spacious and had a clean bathroom with a big tub, which was perfect for my toddler. Only negative (situational) aspect was that a high school class was boarded around us which was loud until way past midnight, followed by contraction happening on scaffolding outside the window at 8am. Had to keep our curtains closed the whole stay to avoid workers literally standing in our faces.

Very much a get what you pay for hotel. The rooms are incredibly basic but they do the job for a city break. There were building works going on which we were not told about prior to our visit. We were told they would start at 8am, but banging and crashing could be heard from as early as 7am. The location is a short walk to the train station and then it’s an easy journey into the centre of Berlin. We were also put on the same floor as a group of school children that were shouting and slamming doors until the early hours which didn’t help with the earlier than expected building works. Would definitely recommend for a short city break, as it is basic and clean, but anything longer and you may want to look elsewhere.

I have recently begun doing city breaks with the family, I am happy with a hotel that is clean, safe and well-priced as ultimately it is somewhere to sleep when you get back from a long day of exploring. This hotel ticked all the boxes, the staff were friendly, the room was spacious and easily big enough for the 4 of us (family of 4 with 2 children aged 13 and 11). There was plenty of shops, bars and food outlets nearby and a bus stop right outside from where you could get a very frequent bus to Berlin Central station (number 245) in about 10 minutes. The only negative I had was our last night was a Friday and we didn't realise the staff had put us directly above a pub/club until that night when the music went on until the early hours. I recommend asking to avoid this part of the hotel at weekends. Otherwise, a very nice base for which to explore at amazing value.
