Ylang Ylang is such a beautiful hotel. We visited as a family of 4 with kids 12 and 16, only for 2 nights. We stayed in a bedroom with a loft. The room accommodated us well, although I wouldn’t be putting people who may need to frequent the bathroom during the night up in the loft, as the stairs are steep and narrow. Stay in a villa unit if you can as they look so romantic and have their own private beach access. The grounds of the hotel are so lush and beautiful, full of flowers, plants and interesting trees. Wildlife abounds. The staff were helpful and super friendly. They even helped booked my ferry to Puntarenas when it was telling me there was no space (there was). Dining area was romantic and had great views. Food was good. The beach area is very scenic. You can walk to many really beautiful deserted beaches from the hotel in 10-30 mins. These beaches are in a national park and are big and deserted. Town is also 10 mins walk. Note you have to leave your car in a restaurant in town and get a ride to the hotel as it’s across beaches etc. I’d really love to come back again and spend more time here and do some tours. Very special.

This place is amazing. I've been coming here for over a decade. When we check in we realized that we had left our passports and wallet at our last hotel that was 5 hours away. Henry at checkin arranged for it to be delivered to us the very next day for $60. It was crazy awesome. The staff treats you like family. Best place to horseback ride if your an experienced rider. No helmets and you get to run the horses on a beautiful beach to a waterfall. Cant say more about the hotel and the surrounding. By far the best hotel in the peninsula. It's a must see place.

Best place to stay in Montezuma. I've visited the town twice before, as a backpacker 20 years ago, and as a couple 15 years ago, but this time came with family and two kids plus mother-in-law, and splurged to stay in this hotel for first time. And it was worth it! Rooms are steps from beautiful beach with few or no people. Best beach in Montezuma is the one next to the hotel's in the direction of town, plus there's another "secret" beach 5 minutes walk in the other direction (with waterfalls, cairn garden). Grounds of hotel impeccable. Breakfast and dinner are included in a beautiful little restaurant on site, and the food is amazing - you won't want to go elsewhere. Bar area at restaurant is great hangout spot, with fantastic list of tropical drinks. Pool is small-is but good, very tropical and close to beach and restaurant. I'm not a yoga person, but we got up at 8am one day to do the session in the studio above restaurant, with beautiful views of ocean, and it was great way to start the day! Animals: saw multiple kinds of iguanas (including at restaurant and pool), bats hanging outside our room, monkeys high in trees, exotic insects, and more. We stayed in a family suite, kids enjoyed the loft with views of the ocean, and hammocks in front. About 10 minutes walk into town. Only slight pain was having to park our car in town by 6pm and take hotel 4x4 from there, but not too big of a deal. Very peaceful and beautiful end to our Costa Rica trip, and I would love to go back.

Truly a gem on the beach yet felt deep in the jungle. Staff was super nice. I would say this place isn’t for everyone. It’s very rustic and meant for a solitary experience without a whole lot around. With that said, it’s truly like being in the jungle. Howler monkeys wake you up in the morning. Bugs and wildlife are everywhere. The beach is beautiful but it’s mainly a shore break so not super good for kids. Hike 20 min away to playa grande and you’ll score a great beach for the fam. Beautiful hike getting there. The town in small with a Rasta/roots feel to it. Highly recommended for couples and seclusion but not so much for small kids. You’ll need a 4x4 to drive in as you drive on the beach to get there. If not, they provide a shuttle truck. Totally walkable to the town. Staff is awesome. The waitress Patricia is a gem!! Truly a pure vida vibe!
