The Flying Steamshovel Inn

We love staying here. The rooms are clean, dark and quiet. I have a large family and a e fit so well into the room with the bunks.

We were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the room was. The outside of the building leaves you wondering but when we walked in the room it was amazing. It was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. it was very clean and fit my family of 5 very comfortably. We will definitely stay there again!!!!

Part of a larger ski trip. We were very happy overall with this place. Very easy "check-in", it's all automated and contactless. The unit was nicely modern and well appointed. Full kitchen (needs ice trays), and a nice modern bathroom (though the fan wasn't working for our stay). Our only real disappointment was with the sleeping situation. We were 3 guys travelling. So "sleeps 4" should work. The primary bed was comfortable, and we were offered a comfortable rollaway bed instead of the chair bed in the unit. But the sofa bed just doesn't cut it for an adult. I did bring this to the attention of the very responsive manager. They were understanding (clearly nothing to be done during our stay). If you were staying as a couple this place would be great. Maybe with young kids??? But I wouldn't want to be the guy on the sofa again, and I wouldn't imagine putting two adults on the sofa bed. (If you were to do 2 couples). Beyond that, the place is so convenient to downtown. It's a comfortable space for dining in-unit. The management staff IS very responsive and friendly. And you're above a restaurant/bar that serves good food and drinks. The drive to the hill isn't very long. Parking, even after the ski day, wasn't an issue for us to get close to the entrance.

Generally enjoy staying here...my second trip...both times I have had issues with the charges to my CC as put through by US company. They charge my card in US funds and don't adjust the amount I am to be paying CAD. Once is an error...twice they should know better. Out over $100 until refund goes through...5-7 days. Also frustrating that there aren't any local contacts if there are issues. Beds not made during the stay. Don't know if this is what I should expect or not as I never received an answer to my inquiry. I will likely continue to stay here when visiting family as it is close by and fairly clean (actually really clean and tidy, except for the bathtubs both times) The bigger room was more enjoyable first time I stayed because of more amenities...the smaller rooms don't have a microwave or a tea kettle, although there is a coffee maker. Even though the rooms are above the pub, they are very soundproof, and the food and beer is excellent. The biggest reason for my more negative review is the error on credit card charges for the second time.
