Loved the overall vibe of the hotel. Room was comfortable and the location can’t be beat! Would love if the hotel had a bit more dedicated parking - we arrived at 9.30pm and were “lucky” to grab the last parking spot in the tiny lot. The communal kitchen/lounge was fun and we appreciated being able to have our morning coffee just outside the room while our kids slept. That was a great touch! I will say though that the housekeeping staff are *very* loud chattering away in the laundry/housekeeping room, with no door closed and very early in the morning. We were already up and having coffee in the lounge, and they were quite loud and gossipy, I don’t know how guests staying in nearby rooms would sleep. Management should ask staff to be more mindful of the guests - perhaps a door they could close and ask for voices to be a bit lower and more professional. It would be great for the hotel to include breakfast at the on-site restaurant like the Hume offers for their guests.

The location of the property is great. It is easy to walk all of downtown Nelson from this location. However, when we arrived to our room it smelled strongly of wet dog. There were only two towels for the 4 of us sharing the room. The batteries in the thermostat were dead, making the room unbearably hot during the night. The room was located above the restaurant/bar. It was extremely loud and not a good location for a family with two young children. The live band did not stop until after 11:00 pm. The beds were extremely hard and very uncomfortable. We will not be returning to this location.
